Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Credit Risk Policy and Governance Analyst for our Poligy and Governance Team in Credit Department.
This role holder supports credit risk governance by managing reporting, documentation, and stakeholder communication, while contributing to process improvements and compliance initiatives.
The responsibility include: Credit Risk Governance & Documentation – Maintain accurate records, manuals, and policy updates. Reporting & Data Management – Prepare KRI/KPI/SLA reports and support system testing and enhancements. Stakeholder Collaboration – Respond to inquiries and coordinate with internal departments to ensure policy alignment.
The position requires: Strong Attention to Detail – Critical for accurate reporting and compliance documentation. Effective Communication Skills – Needed for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder support. Data & Systems Proficiency – Experience with Excel, SQL, or Power BI for handling management information and UAT.
Position Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate management information reports (e.g., Key Risk Indicators, Key Performance Indicators, Service Level Agreement, Trigger management) in line with internal standards and deadlines.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from Credit Department, Front Offices, Tokyo Head Office Departments and other internal stakeholders regarding the application of credit policies and procedures.
- Support the documentation and regular updates of credit risk procedures and operational manuals, ensuring clarity and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of credit policy changes and governance documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis and incident tracking activities under the guidance of senior team members, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Assist in gathering business requirements and performing user acceptance testing (UAT) for system enhancements.
- Provide support for internal audits, operational reviews, and remediation tracking, ensuring timely and thorough follow-up.
- Contribute to the preparation of training materials and coordinate logistics for internal training sessions.
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments (e.g., Risk Management Department, Tokyo Head Office, Front Offices) to support the smooth implementation of credit policies and governance frameworks.
Strategic Initiative
- Assist in planning and executing small-scale efficiency or process improvement initiatives, taking responsibility for specific project components under senior supervision.
Skills and Experience
- Attention to detail and accuracy - Essential for preparing error-free reports, maintaining governance documentation, and supporting audits and compliance tasks.
- Effective communication and collaboration - Required for responding to stakeholder inquiries, coordinating with internal departments, and contributing to training and policy implementation.
- Data handling and systems proficiency - Important for working with management information, supporting system testing, and using tools like Excel, SQL, or Power BI.
- Project coordination and initiative - Demonstrated ability to organise and deliver small-scale efficiency projects independently, while being guided by senior team members.
- Compliance awareness and risk sensitivity - Necessary for supporting governance processes, maintaining procedural integrity, and contributing to a strong compliance culture.
