Purpose of Job
We are looking for a Business Analysy (Assistant Vice President) to join our department. In this role you will be responsible for understanding and assessing changing business needs, analysing impacts, documenting requirements, and facilitating communication between stakeholders. You will also:
- Identify impacts on the target operating model, providing solutions to mitigate risks.
- Support business case development, planning, control processes, impact evaluation, traceability, and QA/testing.
- For regulatory projects, the BA ensures compliance by translating EMEA regulatory requirements into actionable business requirements.
Background
- TCMG provides the SMBC enterprise professional project, programme and portfolio management resource and expertise to the organisation. It was established as a centralized business function operating at a strategic level to provide enterprise-wide oversight and management of change.
- TCMG is also a resource centre/ centre of excellence. It is comprised of professionally qualified project, programme and change managers and business analysts. These are divided into multi-disciplinary teams with reporting line to a Team Lead.
- While working on projects or programmes individual staff retain their report line but for the purposes of the project have a dotted line to the Project or Programme manager and/or Sponsor. The teams handle the bank’s most complex programmes and projects that require strong regional or global co-ordination, are often regulatory deadline driven or key for business strategy, require close cooperation with multiple departments, offices and other regions and have significant budgets.
Facts and Scale
- TCMG manage flexible pool of professionally qualified project, programme and change managers, business analysts and project analysts. This number changes depending on the requirements of different programmes and projects.
- BAs work on complex projects and programmes across EMEA.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Engage with internal/external stakeholders to understand current processes, identify change needs, and recommend optimal approaches.
- Produce BA documentation (e.g., target operating models, process models, business requirements, test scripts) to support solution development and implementation.
- For regulatory projects, track and analyse EMEA regulatory updates, working with SMEs to document practical implications for systems and processes.
- Identify and document operating model changes, timelines, and governance requirements.
- Assess impacts of change on services, functions, and systems; highlight options and dependencies for informed decision-making.
- Communicate clearly within multi-disciplinary teams, gain consensus, and implement solutions within time, budget, and quality constraints.
- Articulate benefits of changes to stakeholders and address concerns.
- Support QA/testing and assist in issue resolution.
- Create plans and processes to evaluate change impacts and maintain audit-ready documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Degree-level education; professional BA qualifications desirable.
- Proven relevant BA experience.
- Strong multitasking, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of front-to-back office processes and products.
- Proven experience delivering projects in financial services, including regulatory change.
- Understanding of banking operations and trade flows.
- Experience in deadline-driven/system project teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively, resolve conflicts, and take initiative while supporting project leadership.
- Resilient under pressure; flexible in shifting between strategic and detailed tasks.
- Skilled in gap analysis, target operating models, process modeling, business requirements, and test scripts.
- Ability to analyse regulatory/business requirements and translate them into practical implications for processes and systems.
Challenges
- To make a change the individual may need to help educate the various levels of stakeholders about the regulation and the impacted products, processes and systems as well as justify the requirement for change.
- The existing operating models have not always been documented so that linkages and key dependencies are not always known.
