Role Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) to join our Internal Audit Department in London. Reporting to an Audit Partner (Director / Executive Director level), you will support delivery of high-quality, risk-based audits across all business areas and locations in EMEA. This team-oriented role plays a key part strengthening the Bank’s control environment and promoting continuous improvement in governance and risk management.
Business Area
The Audit Department Internal Audit Group (ADIA) evaluates the design and effectiveness of key controls, providing independent assurance on the Internal Control Environment and Management Control Approach and Actions. ADIA delivers approximately 80 audit reports and ad-hoc assignments annually across EMEA. AVPs typically contribute to 8 to 10 audits per year, occasionally acting as Auditor-in-Charge (AIC) for smaller assignments.
Position Description
As an AVP, you will be a core member of the Internal Audit Group, responsible for supporting the execution of audits that enhance the Bank’s risk management, control and governance processes. You will assess internal controls, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Internal Audit function.
Responsibilities
In this role you will be accountable and responsible for:
- Timely execution of audit engagements in accordance with the Audit Manual, regulatory requirements and professional standards. This includes drafting Audit Findings and addressing review points raised by the AIC and/or Audit Partner.
- Identify and assess key risks within the business processes and operations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
- Monitor compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Follow-up on audit recommendations to ensure timely and effective remediation.
The AVP will also be expected to contribute to the Internal Audit Department’s initiatives and work collaboratively across EMEA.
Essentials
For you to succeed in the role, you will need to have:
- Educational & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant professional qualification (such as CIA, ACCA, ACA). Strong understanding of audit standards, financial regulations (eg. PRA, FCA) and control principles.
- Audit & Financial Services Experience: 3 – 5 years of experience in internal/external audit, ideally within banking and capital markets. Demonstrated ability to assess risk, evaluate controls and audit complex financial processes. Exposure to risk management and operations audits is advantageous.
- Communication & Stakeholder Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present audit findings clearly. Proven experience in stakeholder management and supporting remediation efforts.
