Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Managing Director for Financial Markets Department (FMD) to join our team.
This role manages and supervises the operations of the Banking Group. At the same time, as a Managing Director, assists the GM in the day to day running and management of FMD.
Essentials of the role:
- To manage SMBC BI’s assets and liabilities in a prudent manner by proactively addressing risk and funding the Bank’s book.
- To assist the GM of FMD, which consists of more than fifty subordinates across other EMEA locations.
Candidate requirements:
- Extensive experience of Asset and Liability management.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Business Area
FMD Banking is managing the interest rate and liquidity risk of SMBC BI by quoting and dealing CD’s, Deposits and Loans < 1Year. The operations include nostro account management and direct reporting to the senior management.
Position Description
Banking Group
- Manage Assets and Liabilities: Address risks and fund the bank's book.
- Nostro Account Management: Oversee positions and supervise dealer operations.
- Optimal Utilization of Funds: Place/invest excess funds with financial institutions/financial products.
- Respond to economic changes: Hedge risks and maximize profits.
- Regulatory compliance: to regulations and internal policies.Adhere
SMBC BI Paris
- Support Paris ALM Team: Provide necessary support and escalate issues.
SONIA Responsibilities
- Monitor SONIA Requests: Respond promptly to requests from the Bank of England.
Supervisory and Reporting Responsibilities
- Monitor Position Limits: Oversee position limits for self and subordinates.
- Daily Reporting: Report daily progress and strategy to GM.
Other Responsibilities
- Advise Subordinates: Recommend strategies and support the Customer Sales Group.
Special Requirements
- Recognize Conflicts of Interest: Identify and act appropriately against market and liquidity risks.
