Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Assistant Vice President Finance, Accounting,Tax & Administration for our Planning & Admin, SMFL department to join our team.
Additionally, you will be tasked with providing various support services for SMFL subsidiaries (both consolidated/equity method) and SMFL group companies in Europe.
- Provide day-to-day operational support to the sales team, ensuring smooth execution of sales activities.
- Prepare, review and manage sales-related documentation including contracts, proposals, quotations and internal materials.
- Coordinate with internal departments to support sales processes, client onboarding and transaction execution.
- Maintain and update sales records, client information and transaction data in internal systems.
- Support sales reporting, including preparation of sales figures, pipeline reports and management materials.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of sales meetings, client calls and presentations.
- Liaise with clients as required for administrative matters, documentation follow-ups and logistical coordination.

Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company Limited (“SMFL”), established in 1963, is one of the leading leasing companies in Japan.
In the Global Marketplace, SMFL has rapidly expanded its business in the transportation sector, starting with acquisition of SMBC Aviation Capital in 2012, followed by entering aircraft engine leasing and helicopter leasing businesses in collaboration with Sumitomo Corporation to further strengthen initiatives in the growing market.
Position Description
Accounting
- Handle accounting-related activities including budget management in the branch, and report to the manager of the branch and SMFL Tokyo.
- Conduct the branch financial closing operations, consolidated account settlements and cash flow management for the branch.
- Collaborate with various third parties (tax and accountant offices, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned by branch managers.
Finance / Treasury
- Handle treasury and finance-related activities for the branch, and report to the manager of the branch and SMFL Tokyo.
- Manage the branch’s funding, liquidity, and cash flow positions to ensure sufficient financial resources for business operations.
- Monitor financial performance and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, financial institutions, and SMFL Tokyo on funding and treasury matters.
- Support asset and liability management activities, including analysis of financing structures and funding costs.
- Prepare and analyse financial reports, management information, and ad hoc financial analyses as required.
- Collaborate with various third parties (banks, financial advisers, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Administrative Operations
- Assist with general office management duties including facilities and insurance arrangements in cooperation with relevant SMBC BI departments.
- Responsibility for travel booking and itinerary management.
- Meeting arrangements - preparation of agendas, supporting documentation, scheduling and arranging conference calls and meeting room bookings.
- Ensuring all video/audio conference meetings are set-up in advance of meeting and liaising with IT for any technical issues.
Tax
- Handle all tax-related and transfer pricing activities, and report to the manager of the branch and SMFL Tokyo.
- Respond to inquiries from external tax and accounting advisors, tax authorities in UK and other EU countries or other parties related to tax and accounting, when it is requested.
- Review tax calculation provided by the agents and authorities, contact them to correct it, if necessary.
- Research on recent tax issues related to SMFL business activities or others.
