Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a AVP to join our team.
The individual will act as a key analytical and operational support to senior team members, ensuring accurate data, transparent reporting, and robust process execution.
Business Area
As a junior member of the securitised lending team, the role will primarily support the financial integrity, reporting discipline, and control framework of the platform.
Position Description
1. Financial Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Prepare and maintain regular financial and portfolio reporting for securitisation vehicles, including asset balances, cash flows, funding metrics, and performance KPIs.
- Support the production of monthly and quarterly management information, ensuring consistency across investor, internal, and risk reporting.
- Assist in analysing variance vs. budget, forecast and prior periods, with clear explanation of drivers.
- Monitor income, costs, and margins at both deal and platform level, escalating anomalies promptly.
2. Financial Controls & Reconciliations
- Perform regular balance sheet and cash reconciliations.
- Support the maintenance of robust financial control processes, including sign‑offs, checks, and audit trails.
- Assist with data validation between systems (accounting and reporting tools).
- Contribute to continuous improvement of control processes to reduce errors and manual intervention.
3. Support to Audit, Compliance & Governance
- Act as a key point of support for internal and external audits, providing financial analysis, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with securitisation documentation, reporting covenants, rating agency requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Support senior team members in preparing materials for risk forums, and governance reviews.
4. Stakeholder & Process Coordination
- Liaise with internal teams (treasury, risk, accounting, legal) and external parties (trustees, administrators, servicers) to ensure timely and accurate financial information flow.
- Coordinate inputs required for management dashboards.
- Ensure deadlines are met across multiple reporting cycles with a high degree of accuracy.
5. Documentation & Process Discipline
- Maintain clear, well‑structured documentation of financial processes, models, and assumptions.
- Support efforts to standardise reporting templates and improve scalability of finance processes.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accountability, and ownership of assigned reporting and control activities.
6. Cash Flow & Waterfall Analysis (Partial Focus)
- Support the calculation and review of securitisation cash flow waterfalls, including asset interest, fees, senior and mezzanine debt service, reserves, and residual cash.
- Assist in reconciling actual cash movements versus modelled expectations, identifying timing differences or structural impacts.
- Maintain clear documentation of assumptions used in cash flow calculations and reporting.
What This Role Is Not
- Not a primary origination or credit decision‑making role
- Not responsible for leading structuring or investor negotiations
- Not a purely operational processing role — judgment, analysis, and control awareness are critical
