Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Executive Director for our Global Transaction Banking Department to join our team.

This role is responsible for leading the EMEA Cash Management sales organisation including defining and developing sales strategies and approaches for clients, developing methodologies to track performance and drive outcomes to increase wallet share penetration for corporate clients in cash management.

This role will also need to collect and provide input into the product vision and strategy. This individual will also be critical in ensuring client feedback is provided and shared in a useful way with the product team developing new capabilities and offerings. This role will work in close collaboration with EMEA relationship teams for both Japanese and European Corporates and the various product teams for Transaction Banking.

This role will also develop and execute the go-to-market strategy across client segments, including the management of the client advisory council for the EMEA Transaction Banking business, development of marketing and RFP responses in conjunction with the product teams, as well as developing the sales approach at relevant industry conferences. This role will also require partnership with business partners such as Technology, Operations and all other cross-functional teams to exceed client expectations.

This role will report into the heads of Transaction Banking for EMEA.
Background
- The Bank’s primary objectives are to grow its Corporate and Investment Banking business by (1) improving the NIM on its loan portfolio and quality of the deposit base, (2) driving the financing collaboration between private and public side markets as well as via the Jefferies alliance and (3) recycling capital. This hire into its GTBD business is crucial for point (1) of the strategy.
- GTBD is in charge of Transaction Banking Business (“TB”) in EMEA, which provides an integrated suite of cash management services to address the various needs of corporate and institutional clients. From the interactive online banking channel “E-Moneyger®”, our key product, to Host-to-Host and SWIFT connectivity, or regional and domestic Cash Pooling, we are helping the Bank's clients to maximise their efficiency and streamline financial operations.
We offer corporates and institutions: convenient, efficient and secure real-time online banking, ability to support domestic and international transfers and collections, access to high value and low value clearing systems, support by regional and in-country cash management specialists across EMEA providing local advisory and sharing best practices. - The job is focused on driving deposits business in EMEA, to increase deposit volumes and profit, and contribute to the growth of the TB business in both EMEA and SMBC group globally
Business Area
- There are currently c.30 members in GTBD EMEA team including Planning, Sales and Product Development team.
- The current business in EMEA is focused predominantly on servicing Japanese multi-national corporates trading in EMEA. However, we are looking to improve the client proposition to all clients and expand it to non-Japanese clients.
- We are on a mission to upgrade our capabilities and client reach and have a number of projects to deliver this.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Lead sales organisation, including the development of a go-to-market strategy and execution of such plans including achieving sales targets.
- Tailor solutions for multinational clients across a variety of industries and needs.
- Manage the regular meeting for the EMEA Transaction Banking business including soliciting and collecting feedback from the group on new product concepts and capabilities.
- Promote business through collaboration with members of the Relationship Management teams across Banking teams to generate new revenues and increased product usage by clients.
- Develop strong relationships across all business and functional areas including Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, and HR.
- Manage team of sales professionals, including development and tracking of performance metrics and results.
- Provide input in the product development concepts and related revenue pools for each based on client input, as well as capture market trends and emerging innovations within the cash management arena.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of corporate sales experience at a bank or fintech organisation.
- Knowledge of cash management offerings and related dales strategies
- Understanding of competitive landscape for ash management sales in EMEA
- Sales experience with global multinational corporations and clients.
- Ability to develop tailored sales approach based on client need and lending relationship with the bank
