Role Summary
Fixed Income is a targeted growth area for SMBC globally and the build out of the European business is part of a coordinated growth agenda across all regions. SMBC is a significant lender in the region and has committed to invest further in our commercial lending, debt and equity advisory, and sales and trading platforms. Continental Europe is increasingly becoming the hub of Euro-denominated activity.
Position Description
The Role holder will be responsible for the distribution strategy for Fixed Income product in Continental Europe, in addition to having personal production targets.
Key job functions require:
- To develop the SMBC EU client footprint in line with the broader Fixed Income strategy across Credit, Rates and Financing;
- Design a client strategy for the region that delivers a high quality service to our investors and our internal stakeholders in trading and DCM, and demonstrate strong leadership in achieving our objectives;
- Identify opportunities for product and client growth in the region, and take responsibility for implementing a strategy to capture them.
- Develop a culture where all salespeople consider the alignment with DCM and the broader Commercial Bank a priority
- Personal responsibility for clients in your region of coverage, achieving your assigned budget;
- Representing FI Sales to internal stakeholders, such as Risk, Compliance, KYC, Treasury, etc and engender a strong culture of governance and compliance;
- Identify client trends and themes and keep management and peers abreast of changing landscapes
- work closely with senior members of the team to identify key clients and conduct prospective sales calls
