We’re looking for a Strategic ECB and Framework Lead - Vice President Level (m/f/d) for our Stratgegic Planning Department to join our team in Frankfurt, position available immediately.
The purpose of the job is:
- Implementation & Coordination: Drive the establishment and operation of SMBC EU through effective internal and external coordination.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate various departments within the Bank group to enhance business performance across SMBC EU and the wider group.
- Governance & Oversight: Supervise and control SMBC EU’s business and operations by implementing policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute SMBC EU’s business strategy while managing internal affairs comprehensively.
Business Area
Strategic Planning Group is in charge of the Bank’s core strategy based on various internal targets and external requirements. STPD aims to support all departments, groups and branches of SMBC EU.
Position Description
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Drive ECB Framework Strategy: Lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of SMBC EU’s ECB-related frameworks, ensuring full alignment with regulatory expectations and group-wide standards.
- Governance & Compliance Leadership: Establish robust governance structures for Business Model Assessment (BMA), including profit allocation, loan pricing, and fund transfer pricing, in line with ECB definitions.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the strategic liaison between SMBC EU, EMEA entities, and the Bank group, harmonizing methodologies, IT solutions, and operational processes to support long-term objectives.
- Business Planning & Optimization: Develop and execute business plans in collaboration with SMBC BI and group entities, driving operational efficiency and supporting organizational re-alignments.
- Automation & Innovation: Champion the development of automated solutions for regulatory and strategic processes, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and compliance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert guidance and support to all departments and branches within SMBC EU, fostering collaboration and alignment with the group’s strategic vision.
Skills & Qualifications
- Controlling & Finance Expertise: Several years of experience in controlling and finance roles within financial institutions, ideally in investment banking.
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing teams effectively.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; professional qualifications are considered an advantage.
- Analytical & Conceptual Thinking: Ability to understand complex concepts, challenge assumptions, and provide clear, precise explanations.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical, numerical, and data management skills, complemented by solid IT capabilities.
- Financial Product Knowledge: In-depth understanding of financial products, particularly Banking Book and lending business.
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships while fostering team spirit.
- Independence: Capable of working autonomously and taking initiative.
- Values Alignment: Commitment to demonstrating SMBC values in daily work.
Language Skills
- English: Business fluent.
Additional Considerations
- Comprehensive knowledge of the rules, policies, and procedures of the Bank group.
- Expertise in management, support, and administration of banking operations, with a strong foundation in global commercial banking.
