Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a IT Technical Delivery Manager- AVP for our ITSD EU department to join our team.
The Technical Delivery Manager is responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of IT projects supporting business change initiatives across SMBC EU AG. The role sits within the IT function and focuses on planning, tracking and delivering technology initiatives, working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams and external vendors.
The role requires a strong understanding of IT delivery combined with solid business awareness, enabling the translation of business requirements into structured delivery plans. The successful candidate will drive day‑to‑day project execution, manage dependencies, track progress, and ensure transparent reporting across the project portfolio.
A core part of the role is governance, reporting and control — providing accurate, timely updates on delivery status, risks, issues and milestones, and supporting informed decision making across IT and the business.
The anticipated annual salary range for this role is 64,000 – 96,000 €, with the final offer determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, role scope, location, and relevant market factors. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package, including core benefits such as pension provision.
Business Area
This role supports a growing portfolio of IT initiatives ranging from regulatory and infrastructure change to application and process improvements. It operates in a matrix environment, coordinating across multiple IT teams, business functions and third‑party suppliers.
The position is well suited to someone with hands‑on experience delivering IT projects, who understands technology concepts but is equally comfortable working with non‑technical stakeholders. It requires a structured, organised approach to delivery and a strong focus on transparency, tracking and execution.
Position Description
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Manage the end‑to‑end delivery of IT projects from initiation through to completion
- Define project plans, milestones, dependencies and delivery timelines
- Track progress across the project portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting of technical status, risks and issues
- Prepare clear project and portfolio reporting for IT management and business stakeholders
- Act as a key point of coordination between business, IT teams and third‑party suppliers
- Identify delivery risks and issues, drive mitigation actions and escalate where appropriate
- Support project governance activities, including RAID logs, action tracking and steering updates
- Ensure deliverables align with agreed requirements, internal standards and delivery expectations
- Proven experience delivering IT projects or workstreams within a technology function, ideally in a banking or regulated environment
- Good understanding of project delivery methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Scrum or hybrid approaches)
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering IT projects or workstreams within a technology function, ideally in a banking or regulated environment
- Solid understanding of IT delivery concepts, including applications, infrastructure, data or integration, with the ability to engage credibly with technical teams
- Strong business awareness, with experience translating business requirements into structured delivery plans and milestones.
- Experience managing multiple technical initiatives in parallel, including tracking progress, dependencies, risks and issues.
- Strong reporting and governance experience, including preparation of project status reports, dashboards, RAID logs and portfolio views.
- Experience working in a matrix environment, coordinating across business stakeholders, IT delivery teams and third‑party vendors.
- Good understanding of project delivery methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Scrum or hybrid approaches)
- Ability to identify delivery risks early and take practical action to mitigate or escalate where appropriate
- Strong organisational skills, with high attention to detail and discipline in planning, documentation and follow‑through
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear, concise information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Comfortable operating in a structured, controlled delivery environment, with an appreciation of governance and regulatory expectations
- Proficient in common project and reporting tools (e.g. MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Jira or similar)
