Role Summary

We’re looking for a Junior Analyst for our Structured Real Estate Finance (REF) Group, Specialised Products Department to join our team!

 

In this role you will

  • provide analytical and procedural support across origination and portfolio management of EMEA REF transactions,
  • assist in credit application processes, customer onboarding, and loan execution under supervision and
  • perform ad-hoc reporting, project work, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

 

For you to succeed in this role, you'll need to have:

  • basic credit/risk analysis skills and understanding of European Real Estate Finance,
  • strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks and
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or working towards a relevant professional qualification.

Business Area

The Structured Real Estate Finance (REF) Group is part of the Specialised Products Department at SMBC Bank EU AG, headquartered in Frankfurt. The team originates and manages real estate finance loans and derivatives across income-producing and development assets in the UK and continental Europe, supporting SMBC’s strategic growth in EMEA.

 

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in complex, structured real estate finance across EMEA. The role supports SMBC’s strategic growth in non-recourse real estate lending and portfolio management.

Position Description

This role provides junior analytical and procedural support to the REF team in both origination and post-closing portfolio management. It contributes directly to the execution of complex real estate transactions and supports the team’s operational efficiency.

 

Our role will allow you to:

- Collaborate with internal teams including SPD KYC, SPD Operations, Compliance, Loans Admin, and Planning.

- Liaise with external stakeholders such as borrowers, valuers, attorneys, and agents.

- Work closely with senior team members across origination and portfolio management.

 

What you will bring to the role:

- Experience or strong interest in banking or European Real Estate Finance.

- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and basic financial analysis.

- Desirable: Familiarity with systems such as GBR, TheMIS, PowerBI, DealCloud.
