Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Risk Data Governance Manager (m/f/d) to join our team and play a key role in shaping and implementing our data governance strategy within the risk management function. This role is critical in ensuring that risk-related data is accurate, consistent, secure, and aligned with regulatory expectations and internal standards.
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive data governance framework that supports the identification, ownership, quality, and lifecycle management of risk data.
You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders from Risk, Data Management Office, IT, Compliance, and senior leadership to ensure that data governance principles are embedded in all relevant processes and systems within the Risk Domain.
Business Area
The Risk Data Governance Manager (m/f/d) is a new function that sits within the EU AG Risk Management Department covering all EU AG all datasets in the Risk Domain.
As mentioned the Role is responsible for capturing and implementing the appropriate level of risk data governance for all risk data across EU AG.
As part of this work, the EMEA & EU AG Data Management Office has established a framework which encompasses cultural, behavioural, procedural, and system transformation to deliver the new strategy. This initially focuses on good governance by improved Data Architecture, Data Management and Data Quality, and to support the Risk Domain to focus more on how we can use Data to drive new ways of working and improved business outcomes.

Position Description
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Data Management Office EU AG to ensure the implementation of the data governance strategy and policy
- Design and implement a robust Risk Data Governance Framework aligned with group-wide data strategies and regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, CRR, MaRisk)
- Coordinate the Domain Data Steward team and be SPOC for Domain Data Owners and Data Management Office EU AG
- Define and maintain a comprehensive inventory of Key Data Elements (KDEs) and assign Key Data Owners (KDOs) across risk domains
- Ensure data quality by establishing data quality rules, controls, and monitoring mechanisms; lead root cause analysis and remediation efforts
- Collaborate with ECB and other regulatory stakeholders to ensure compliance with evolving data governance expectations and supervisory reviews
- Support the 'end to end' implementation of data governance, which includes the support in building out of the data catalogue, including documentation of data standards and lineage for prioritised Use Cases
- Support risk reporting and analytics by ensuring data traceability, lineage, and consistency across systems and reports
- Lead or contribute to strategic projects involving risk data, including system migrations, regulatory implementations, and data architecture initiatives
- Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to promote a data governance culture across the Risk Domain
- Prepare and present reports to senior management and governance committees on the status of data governance initiatives, risks, and progress
- Act as a subject matter expert together with the Domain Data Stewards for data governance topics within the risk function and represent the function in group-wide data governance forums
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive experience in risk management, data governance, or data management, preferably in the financial services or banking sector
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and supervisory expectations related to data governance (e.g., BCBS 239, Basel III, CRR, EBA Guidelines)
- Deep understanding of the financial and non-financial Risk Data Domain
- Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and standards preferably within the Risk Domain
- Working knowledge and understanding of data quality, metadata, profiling, analysis, and data management tools.
- Familiarity with data management tools, metadata repositories, and data quality platforms is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured and detail-oriented approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Educated to degree level in any subject or relevant industry experience, preferably in a quantitative discipline
- Fluent in English; German is a strong advantage
