We’re looking for a Regulatory Affairs Officer (Vice President) for our SMBC EU Compliance / SMBC Bank EU AG to join our team!

Business Area
Responsibilities:
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the ECB Onboarding process and managing day-to-day ECB supervision.
- Maintaining strong relationships with the ECB Joint Supervisory Team and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring coherence and quality assurance in regulatory communications and reporting.
Stakeholders:
Our role will enable you to:
- Engage with the ECB Joint Supervisory Team, SRB International Resolution Team, BaFin, Bundesbank, and other National Competent Authorities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across SMBC EU, SMBC EMEA, and SMBC Group, including Finance & Control, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, and more.
Position Description
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the ECB Onboarding process including PMO – tasks for the Onboarding project phase
- Supporting management of the ECB day-to-day Supervision
- Communication and relationship management to National Competent Authorities (NCAs) and related Associations
- Support and performance function and availability as internal critical function on analysing regulatory requirements and monitoring regulatory developments under the aspect of maintaining good and professional contact especially in focus to European Supervisory Law horizon scanning, monitoring and implementation guidance
- Coherence and Quality Assurance
- Performing tasks under the function as liaison Office for SMBC Group Regulatory Affairs (alongside Planning Department) including communication with SMBC Group Reg. Affairs Office and coordination for Supervisory Colleges Meeting (Banking Supervision, Financial Crime)
- Support regular reporting to COO/CFO as well as SMBC EU Executive Board
- Back-Up function for Head of Regulatory Affairs (vacation, illness)
- Along the listed accountabilities and responsibilities, carry out relevant qualitative, quantitative and regulatory analyses, edit texts, memos, minutes and presentations
What will you bring to the role?
- Experienced and highly professional banking expert with at least 5 years of industry experience.
- Track record of interacting with Supervisors/Regulators; preferably established contacts at ECB.
- Broad and general banking knowledge with a focus on non-market side of the business.
Desirable:
- Experience in working at or with ECB or NCAs.
- University degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, or a comparable field.
- Motivation to drive forward the growth of a young corporate and investment bank under ECB Supervision.
