Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a IT Technical Delivery Manager- AVP for our ITSD EU department to join our team.  

 

The Technical Delivery Manager is responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of IT projects supporting business change initiatives across SMBC EU AG. The role sits within the IT function and focuses on planning, tracking and delivering technology initiatives, working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams and external vendors.

 

The role requires a strong understanding of IT delivery combined with solid business awareness, enabling the translation of business requirements into structured delivery plans. The successful candidate will drive day‑to‑day project execution, manage dependencies, track progress, and ensure transparent reporting across the project portfolio.

 

A core part of the role is governance, reporting and control — providing accurate, timely updates on delivery status, risks, issues and milestones, and supporting informed decision making across IT and the business.

 

The anticipated annual salary range for this role is 64,000 – 96,000 €, with the final offer determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, role scope, location, and relevant market factors. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package, including core benefits such as pension provision.

Business Area

This role supports a growing portfolio of IT initiatives ranging from regulatory and infrastructure change to application and process improvements. It operates in a matrix environment, coordinating across multiple IT teams, business functions and third‑party suppliers.

The position is well suited to someone with hands‑on experience delivering IT projects, who understands technology concepts but is equally comfortable working with non‑technical stakeholders. It requires a structured, organised approach to delivery and a strong focus on transparency, tracking and execution.

Position Description

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

 

  • Support and deliver local IT projects in line with agreed standards.
  • Provide cover for the Bank's IT support, managing calls, tickets and issue escalation.
  • Act as the main contact for front office departments, SMBC Düsseldorf Branch and SMBC EU AG regarding MultiCash and related vendor support.
  • Monitor and review IT-related costs, expenses and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate IT activities with building services, vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure incidents and service requests are appropriately escalated, tracked and resolved.
  • Monitor local IT installations and services to ensure availability.
  • Perform daily checks of the MER environment (fire suppression, temperature, UPS, etc.) in line with policy.
  • Support system enhancements, releases, business continuity and disaster recovery activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank standards, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and management across locations.
  • Participate in local and remote IT team meetings.
  • Provide out-of-hours support when required, including holidays and weekends.
  • Administer and review contracts with external vendors and service providers.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Experience delivering IT projects or workstreams, ideally within banking or a regulated environment.
  • Good understanding of applications, infrastructure, data and integration, with the ability to engage technical teams.
  • Strong business awareness and experience translating requirements into delivery plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives, including risks, issues, dependencies and progress tracking.
  • Experience producing project reporting, dashboards, RAID logs and status updates.
  • Proven ability to work across business stakeholders, IT teams and third-party vendors.
  • Knowledge of project delivery methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, Waterfall or hybrid approaches.
  • Strong risk identification, mitigation and escalation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working within structured governance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Jira or similar tools.
