We’re looking for an Executive Director / Director, Corporate Risk Solutions for our FX & Derivatives department to join our team.
This is a senior client-facing role focused on promoting, structuring and executing Interest Rate Derivatives and associated hedging solutions for corporate and institutional clients across Europe, with particular focus on DACH and France.
The role offers the opportunity to help build out SMBC’s European Corporate Risk Solutions franchise, working closely with Relationship Management, DCM, TD, FIST, trading, credit, legal and senior stakeholders across the SMBC Group.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Promoting, marketing, pricing and executing Interest Rate Derivative and associated hedging business for corporate and financial institution clients across Europe, particularly DACH and France.
- Building and developing the Corporate Risk Solutions franchise, including cross-sale collaboration with FX, FIST, Treasury Department, DCM and Relationship Management teams.
- Managing key deal processes across pricing, credit, legal documentation, KYC/compliance, client materials, call reports and senior stakeholder reporting.
Business Area
The EMEA Risk Solutions Group provides tailored risk management solutions to our clients across interest rate and structured hedging products. The Paris team plays a key role in covering France and Belgium, working closely with colleagues in London, Frankfurt and New York to deliver integrated solutions across DCM, project finance, wider lending and treasury products
Position Description
The role exists to support and grow SMBC’s European Corporate Risk Solutions business by originating, structuring, pricing and executing Interest Rate Derivative and associated hedging solutions for corporate and institutional clients.
The role will support derivative transactions booked in SMBC Bank EU AG and, where applicable, remote bookings into SMBC Nikko Capital Markets Limited, SMBC Capital Markets Inc. and SMBC Brussels branch, while contributing to the broader development of SMBC’s derivatives capabilities across Europe, the UK and the US.
Our role will enable you to:
- Work closely with corporate clients, financial institutions, Relationship Managers, Project Advisors, Corporate Treasurers and senior bankers to identify and execute hedging opportunities.
- Partner with Trading, Credit, Legal, Compliance, Operations, DCM, TD, FIST and other SMBC Group entities to deliver client solutions and manage end-to-end transaction execution.
- Present regularly to senior management and stakeholders across entities to support business growth, process improvement and franchise development.
Requirements
What will you bring to the role?
- More than 10 years of relevant experience, ideally supported by a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to analyse complex financial data and large volumes of information.
- Strong knowledge of Interest Rate Derivative models, discounting, pricing, potential exposure methodologies, CVA, FVA and other xVAs including capital and initial margin.
- Working knowledge of derivative master agreement documentation and confirmations.
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to establish professional credibility at all levels.
- Commercial acumen, sound judgment under pressure, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively while driving results independently.
Desirable
- Established corporate client franchise with DAX40 and/or CAC40 clients at Head of Treasury to CFO level.
- Native or fully fluent German and/or French language skills are also referenced as beneficial in the source document
