EMEA Internal Communications Assistant Vice President

We're looking for a Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Associate Vice President for our STPD Communications Team to join our team in Frankfurt or Paris.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape employee engagement, internal communications, and CSR initiatives across SMBC's European operations. Working with colleagues across the EU and wider EMEA region, you will play a key role in ensuring employees remain informed, connected, and engaged while supporting corporate communications, leadership messaging, community partnerships, and employee volunteering initiatives.

About this role

The Communications and CSR team is responsible for delivering internal communications and employee engagement initiatives across EMEA. As the team continues to expand its communications channels and engagement strategies, this role will support the development of compelling content, leadership communications, CSR programmes, and employee events that strengthen SMBC's culture and employer brand.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Creating, editing, and publishing engaging content for the EMEA intranet, with a particular focus on EU business initiatives, strategic priorities, employee engagement activities, and events
• Supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of EMEA Insight, ensuring content remains relevant, accessible, and aligned with SMBC's brand standards
• Assisting with the preparation and design of senior leadership communications, including presentations for internal and external events
• Supporting CSR initiatives across the EU region, including identifying charity partnerships, coordinating volunteering opportunities, and promoting fundraising activities
• Developing content for internal communication campaigns covering strategic programmes, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, transformation, and employee networks
• Supporting the planning and delivery of internal events, town halls, inclusion activities, CSR programmes, and employee engagement initiatives
• Maintaining communications calendars and exploring new communications channels, including internal social media and digital engagement platforms

The anticipated salary range for this role is €48,000 - €72,000, with the final offer determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, role scope, location, and relevant market factors. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package, including core benefits such as pension provision.

For you to succeed in this role

• Excellent written English skills, with strong attention to grammar, clarity, and storytelling
• Experience in Internal Communications, Corporate Communications, Employee Engagement, CSR, Marketing Communications, or a related field
• Ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences while adapting tone and style appropriately
• Experience working with content management systems such as SharePoint or similar digital communication platforms
• Confidence working with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management

Desirable

• Fluency in German and/or French
• Basic understanding of the banking or financial services industry
• Experience using SharePoint, digital signage solutions, intranet platforms, or website content management systems
• Knowledge of design and content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or similar platforms
• Experience supporting corporate events, employee engagement programmes, volunteering initiatives, or CSR activities
