Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Technology Lead for Finance Accounting & Regulatory Reporting Director for our ITSD EU department to join our team.  

 

The Technology Lead for Finance Accounting & Regulatory Reporting is responsible for the delivery and support of systems underpinning SMBC EU AG’s CFO domain within a growing, ECB‑supervised banking environment. The role focuses on driving change across Finance and Regulatory Reporting platforms, working in close partnership with CFO stakeholders to ensure technology solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with business priorities.

 

The role requires a strong blend of technology delivery experience and business understanding, with the ability to translate finance and regulatory requirements into effective, sustainable IT solutions. A solid understanding of ECB regulation and supervisory expectations is required, ensuring that CFO platforms support regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and the continued growth of the bank.

 

The position includes line management of staff responsible for the delivery and support of CFO platforms and applications, including General Ledger, Financial and Regulatory Reporting, Accounting and Tax systems. The role also manages relationships with external third‑party vendors and internal SMBC IT teams involved in the delivery and support of services across the CFO technology landscape.

 

The anticipated annual salary range for this role is 86,000 – 130,000 €, with the final offer determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, role scope, location, and relevant market factors. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package, including core benefits such as pension provision.

Business Area

This role been created to support SMBC EU AG’s continued growth and increasing regulatory expectations under ECB direct supervision. As the Bank expands its product set, balance sheet and regulatory footprint, there is a clear need to strengthen the delivery and evolution of technology supporting Finance Accounting and Regulatory Reporting.

 

The position sits at the intersection of Finance, Technology and Regulation, requiring a strong understanding of CFO processes, ECB supervisory expectations and technology delivery. The role works closely with Finance stakeholders, internal IT teams and external vendors to drive change, enhance platform capabilities and ensure Finance systems remain resilient, compliant and scalable.

 

The role is suited to someone with proven experience operating within technology functions, combined with strong business and regulatory knowledge, who is comfortable working in a growing organisation where priorities evolve and continuous improvement is key.

Position Description

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

 

  • Own the delivery and ongoing support of Finance Accounting and Regulatory Reporting technology platforms supporting SMBC EU AG’s CFO domain.
  • Act as the primary technology interface for CFO stakeholders, translating business and regulatory requirements into effective IT solutions.
  • Drive change and continuous improvement across Finance and Regulatory Reporting systems to support business growth and ECB supervisory expectations.
  • Ensure Finance IT platforms operate in a stable, resilient and compliant manner, in line with ECB regulation and internal governance standards.
  • Coordinate delivery and issue resolution across internal SMBC IT teams and external third‑party vendors.
  • Oversee technology change, enhancements and incidents affecting CFO platforms, ensuring appropriate prioritisation and stakeholder communication.
  • Support audit, regulatory and supervisory engagements by providing accurate information, documentation and IT input as required.
  • Contribute to the definition and evolution of technology roadmaps for Finance Accounting and Regulatory Reporting systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in similar technology management role within Banking Finance IT domain, specifically around Finance General Ledger implementation (Oracle Fusion preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of CFO & Regulatory Domain within Commercial and Investment Banking across EMEA.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Extensive experience leading Finance IT functions within banking, including General Ledger platforms (Oracle Fusion preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of CFO, Finance and Regulatory Reporting domains within Commercial and Investment Banking across EMEA.
  • Experience with Finance technology, data, analytics, reporting architectures and systems integration.
  • Proven track record managing vendors, contracts and delivery of on-premise, cloud and SaaS solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior executives, regulators and third-party providers.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and experience driving technology and business change.
  • Strong understanding of IT controls, software development lifecycle, Agile delivery and operational risk management.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving and continuous improvement capabilities, with the ability to influence across global organisations.
