We’re looking for a Director (m/f/d) for our Enterprise Risk Management department to join our team.
- The Director in the area of Enterprise Risk Management will be responsible for assisting the Head of Enterprise Risk Management and the CRO/Head of Risk in ensuring and managing the firm’s ongoing compliance with the prudential requirements set out by the regulatory authorities regarding enterprise-wide, integrated and prudential risks.
- This will involve oversight, coordination and delivery of the main regulatory documentation and processes regarding risk strategy, risk inventory and risk appetite including coordination of ICAAP and ILAAP and the consistency between these different risk management aspects. It includes close corporation with other departments of the bank to ensure consistency between business strategy and risk strategy.. Risk culture and risk governance are additional areas of responsibilities.
- To support the Head of Enterprise Risk Management and CRO in the day-to-day risk management.
Business Area
SMBC Bank EU AG has a dedicated risk management team in charge of designing, implementing, developing, and maintaining the Bank’s risk management framework across the entity (enterprise risk) and the various risk types to which the entity is exposed. The risk management team of the Bank is supported in this task by staff of SMBC BI (UK), and the wider RMD EMEA group under a Service Level Agreement. The risk management team of the Bank also provides risk management support to other EMEA entities (in Germany) under a Service Level Agreement.
The Enterprise Risk Management team is responsible for all matters related to integrated and prudential risk comprising a broad remit with ownership of risk governance, risk management framework and key regulatory documentations for ICAAP, ILAAP Recovery and Resolution Plan as well as consistent stress testing and sustainability risk framework across all risk types and close corporation with the Bank’s risk capital modelling team.
Position Description
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
In this context, the job holder is responsible for
- Lead development and maintenance of a fit for purpose risk strategy and risk appetite framework in collaboration with EMEA, subsidiaries and Head Office, i.e. designing, implementing, developing, and maintaining the Bank’s risk strategy and risk appetite according to regulatory requirements and expectations and ensure consistent set up to ICAAP and ILAAP and stress testing framework.
- Ensure appropriate governance and challenge of key components of risk culture, risk strategy and risk appetite including methodologies used, inputs and potential weaknesses
- Coordinate other key Risk deliveries of the Bank (ICAAP, ILAAP)
- Present topics related to risk strategy and risk appetite at the Bank’s risk management committees
- Monitor, analyse and report regulatory and legal developments with regards to responsible areas and general risk related prudential requirements and drive the implementation in the risk management framework
- Support the Head of ERM in her interactions and as required interact directly with internal (senior management, risk management committee members) and external stakeholders (supervisory authorities, external auditors) with regards to risk strategy and risk appetite, and other items of the prudential agenda (as and when required)
- Lead project (internal/external) teams with short or strategic target
- Act as project lead support in cross-divisional as well as EMEA-wide strategic projects (as and when required)
- Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships across the Bank in order to achieve engagement to change
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of capital and liquidity rules and requirements applicable to both banking and capital markets business and across multiple risk disciplines (i.e. credit, counterparty credit, market, operational, and liquidity risk requirements).
- Experiences of enterprise-wide implementation of risk strategy, risk inventory and risk appetite as well as bank-wide coordination of the annual capital and liquidity planning
- Strong knowledge of risk capital and liquidity models as well as stress testing concepts
- Detailed understanding of internal and external reporting of capital and liquidity
- Ability to manage multiple, complex and strategic projects
- Strong attention to detail and high-quality products
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to adapt information delivery based on audience
- Ability to communicate risk management concepts across a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
- Good influencing, relationship, and stakeholder management skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work within stringent time frames
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong team player
