Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Data Governance Analyst (Associate) (f/m/d) for our EU AG Data Office – Operations, Planning and Data Department to join our team!
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping a growing Data Office and driving data-led transformation across the organisation.
You will work in an international environment with strong exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic initiatives.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the implementation of Data Governance frameworks, policies, and standards
- Managing data definitions, lineage, and governance across key data domains
- Investigating data quality issues and driving remediation actions
For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:
- Experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, or Data Management practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured mindset
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
Position Description
About this role:
This role supports the EU AG Data Office in implementing and embedding Data Governance capabilities across the organisation, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and compliant with regulatory expectations. It plays a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making and strengthening the organisation’s data management maturity.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, SMEs, and technology teams across regions.
Our role will enable you to:
- Support the development and implementation of Data Governance policies, standards, and processes
- Define and manage data lineage and end-to-end data flows for prioritised data domains
- Monitor and manage changes to data requirements and ensure proper governance controls
- Analyse data quality issues, define root causes, and support remediation activities
- Drive adoption of data standards across business functions
- Contribute to building a strong data-driven culture within the organisation
- Identify process improvements and support continuous efficiency enhancements
What will you bring to the role?
Essential:
- Solid understanding of Data Governance, Data Quality, and data management frameworks
- Experience working with business stakeholders and managing data-related requirements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and deliver solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
Desirable:
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as BCBS239, RDARR, or AML
- Experience in financial services or a regulated environment
- Experience with Data Governance tools (e.g. Collibra) and MDM solutions (e.g. Informatica)
- Basic knowledge of SQL and/or Python
- Awareness of emerging trends in data management
