Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Data Analyst - Vice President for our EU AG Data Office – OPPD Data Management team to join us in Frankfurt.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and grow analytics capability across SMBC EMEA. You will work on innovative data initiatives, transforming complex data into actionable insights that support strategic business decisions across the bank.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Delivering advanced analytics, dashboards, and data visualisation solutions using tools such as Power BI and Tableau
- Supporting the rollout and adoption of self-service analytics capabilities across SMBC EMEA
- Collaborating with stakeholders across business and technology teams to turn data into actionable business insights
For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:
- Strong experience in data analytics, data visualisation, and storytelling using Power BI and/or Tableau
- Advanced SQL and data preparation skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences
Position Description
About this role:
The Data Analyst role sits within the EU AG Data Office as part of the EMEA Data Office and supports the delivery of SMBC’s data strategy. The role focuses on developing analytics capabilities, driving data-led transformation, and helping the business use data more effectively to support strategic objectives.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the Data Office, business teams, technology functions, analysts, engineers, and senior management colleagues across SMBC EMEA.
Our role will enable you to:
- Develop and deliver analytics products, interactive dashboards, and data visualisation solutions
- Translate complex datasets into meaningful insights that support business decision-making
- Support data transformation, preparation, and automation initiatives
- Promote best practice in data analytics and visualisation across the organisation
- Coach and mentor analysts and business users on analytics tools and approaches
- Support proof-of-concept initiatives, innovation projects, and self-service analytics adoption
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic data initiatives and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the development of analytics standards, frameworks, and governance processes
What will you bring to the role?
- Proven experience in data analytics and business intelligence within a complex organisation, ideally in financial services
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and data preparation tools
- Experience developing dashboards and visual analytics solutions for business stakeholders
- Understanding of analytics delivery lifecycle, including requirements gathering, testing, and deployment
- Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex business problems
- Experience mentoring or coaching others on analytics best practice
Desirable
- Tableau and/or Power BI certifications
- Experience with Python, R, AI, machine learning, or automation solutions
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools including Power Automate and Power Apps
- Knowledge of data modelling, data architecture, and cloud platforms
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide self-service analytics programmes
