Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for an Executive Director for our Credit Department / SMBC Bank EU AG to join our team.
SUMMARY OF ROLE
Exercising Senior credit Officer level delegated authority, with appropriate skill and judgement
Senior level review and challenge within a Level 2 function of designated Front Offices of credit applications, based upon the bank's Risk Appetite Framework.
ESSENTIALS OF THE ROLE
Extensive credit knowledge and transaction experience to provide credit risk and market risk assessment of net take and underwriting positions
To lead the interaction with Front Office on all transactions reviewed with very high independence
Manage requests and approvals arising from the Structured Finance portfolio including evaluation, challenge and recommendation/approval in relation to Front Office proposed waivers, annual reviews, credit monitoring/grading.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Seasoned credit professional with extensive credit markets experiences leading and negotiating deals in a Front Office or Credit role, likely to have been gained from marketing leading institutions, and over more than one credit cycle.
Degree level education and/or equivalent professional qualifications with extensive and experience at a senior level in the financial sector.
Strong people performance management skills, allied to a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective teams.
Business Area
Structured finance, including but not limited to Project Finance, Asset Finance (Real Estate, Ship, Aircraft, etc.), Acquisition, Securitisation, etc.
Position Description

Senior level review and challenge within a Level 2 function of designated Front Offices (FO) of credit applications, based upon implementing the bank’s Risk Appetite Framework.
Extensive credit knowledge and transaction experience to provide credit risk and market risk assessment of net take and underwriting positions.
To lead the interaction with FO’s on all transactions reviewed with very high independence & oversight by MD on strategic / policy matters only.
Manage requests and approvals arising from the Structured Finance portfolio including evaluation, challenge and recommendation/approval in relation to FO proposed waivers, annual reviews, credit monitoring/grading,
Attendance at Special Credit Review (“SCR”) meetings setting strategy for problem assets, and leading input into the assessment of provisions.
Lead, manage and develop a team of VP credit officers, and contribute to the development of the Structured Finance team within CD, to ensure that it supports the Business Strategy of EU and EMEA.
Challenge the status quo, to build stronger control function and front office capabilities, processes and systems.
Develop and implement training to FO on all aspects of counterparty credit risk including Grading, documentation and Credit Analysis.
