Role Summary
The Audit Partner has the responsibility to:
- Assist Head of Audit in preparation of the internal audit plan, and update as necessary, in response to changes in organisation´s business, risks, operations, programs, systems, and controls;
- Ensure each engagement of the internal audit plan is executed, including the establishment of objectives and scope, the assignment of appropriate and adequately supervised resources, the documentation of work programs and testing results, and the communication of engagement results with applicable conclusions and recommendations to appropriate parties;
- Engage and challenge on other EMEA audits to direct the scope of work being performed so it meets local regulatory needs.
- Follow up on engagement findings and corrective actions, and report periodically to the Executive Board any corrective actions not effectively implemented;
- Ensure the principles of integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and competency are applied and upheld;
- Ensure adherence to organisation´s relevant policies and procedures, unless such policies and procedures conflict with the Internal Audit Charter.
- Lead a team of auditors, assigning work, overseeing audit delivery and providing quality control, contributing to employee recruiting and providing coaching and consulting as necessary.
The Audit Partner must possess the following:
- The ability to clearly communicate to senior Management both verbally and in writing audit issues.
- A clear understanding of the risk and internal control environment relevant to the business being audited.
- Attention to detail. The confirmation of factual accuracy and a clear understanding of how the facts should be interpreted is essential.
- Educated to degree standard and the holder of a professional qualification. This is most likely to be ACA, ACCA, CIA or equivalent.
- Previous internal audit management experience is required to demonstrate a track record in effective internal audit delivery and management.
Position Description
The SMBC Bank EU AG Audit Partner is responsible to manage the audit team and ensure appropriate standards are met in the delivery of audit assurance within SMBC Bank EU AG, including its branches in Amsterdam, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Madrid, Milan, Prague and Paris, and SMBC Nikko Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. (SNBL). A key part of this responsibility is to maintain ongoing relationship management within the bank by holding regular meetings with line Management.
The Audit Partner will support the delivery of internal audit reports within SMBC Bank EU AG (including branches) and SNBL according to the Annual Audit Plan. The audits are performed according to a three-year audit cycle and the number of audits can vary from year to year. The Audit Partner is expected to be responsible for the internal audit review of some key projects within the SMBC Bank EU AG and SNBL. The Audit Partner will also be expected to contribute to EMEA Audit Department initiatives, methodology and ongoing development of the team as well as work collaboratively across EMEA to identify thematic issues.
