We’re looking for a Third Party Management Oversight Manager – Vice President (m/f/d) to join our Planning Department!

 

This role strengthens the First Line of Defence (1LoD) Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) function by ensuring robust execution, governance, oversight, and continuous improvement of outsourcing arrangements. It supports compliance with the German Banking Act, EBA Outsourcing Guidelines, ECB expectations, and DORA, to ensure an effective oversight across SMBC EU.

Business Area

SMBC Bank EU AG is a CRR credit institution established in Germany, authorised by the European Central Bank (ECB) and supervised by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).

 

The Bank operates six branches and one subsidiary within the European Union and relies heavily on Outsourced, Intra-group and Third Party arrangements for the delivery of key services.

 

The Vice President works closely with 1LoD business units, the regional OPPD team and SMBC Group entities to ensure consistent execution of the TPRM framework in relation to SMBC Bank EU AG.

Position Description

In this role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Review, challenge, support enhancement of SLAs, MSAs, KPIs, exit plans, governance documents, and risk assessments promoting a strong compliance culture within 1LoD TPRM.
  • Champion process improvement of and oversee compliance with BaFin ‘Anzeigeverordnung’/notification requirements and manage end‑to‑end outsourcing/insourcing approvals.
  • Act as Relationship manager for the provision of services by the regional centralised 1LoD TPRM service, monitoring delivery performance against SLAs and KPIs.
  • Analyse MI and reporting to identify areas of risk and provide insights to management, committees, and the Executive Board.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with stakeholders to progress issues and strengthen operational processes.
  • Support internal, external, and supervisory audits; coordinate responses and ensure timely remediation.
  • Ensure adherence to BaFin/MaRisk, ECB, EBA, DORA, and SMBC EU outsourcing and TPRM requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of TPRM processes, documentation standards, and reporting and drive SMBC EU collaboration in this respect.

 

For you to succeed in this role, you will need to have:

 

  • Extensive experience in TPRM, governance, operational risk or related fields within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations driving TP requirements.
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail and strong communication capabilities.
  • Proven ability to conduct detailed analysis and reporting with a strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and jurisdictions.
  • Confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; German language skills advantageous but not required.
