Role Summary
SMBC Group EMEA are looking for a Technical Functional Analyst (Assistant Vice President) for our Cash Management Solutions department to join our Team.
This role is part of a rapidly growing CMS Team with a large and strategic mandate under the Transaction Banking Programme, focused on transforming how we deliver Cash Management services across EMEA.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the transformation of digital channels across the EMEA region.
- Translating requirements into clear functional and technical specifications for development teams.
- Supporting enhancements to platforms such as Online Banking portals, Mobile apps and API-based services.

This role will be based in Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD), a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA. It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies.
Position Description
As a Technical Functional Analyst in the Cash Management Solutions (CMS) team, you will play a key role in supporting the transformation of digital channels across the EMEA region.
You will work at the intersection of business and technology, helping to shape innovative, client-centric solutions that enhance our digital capabilities.
You will act as a bridge between regional Business teams, Compliance and Technology partners, ensuring alignment and transparency.
Our role will enable you to:
- Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to understand business needs across digital Cash Management channels.
- Translate requirements into clear functional and technical specifications for development teams.
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to ensure robust and scalable implementation of digital features.
- Provide functional oversight throughout the design, development and release lifecycle.
- Define and execute test plans, support user acceptance testing (UAT) and production validation.
- Ensure issues are tracked, resolved and documented in line with quality standards.
- Support enhancements to platforms such as Online Banking portals, Mobile apps and API-based services.
- Leverage knowledge of CMS products (e.g. payments, liquidity, reporting) to guide solution design.
- Act as a bridge between regional Business teams, Compliance and Technology partners.
- Communicate effectively across diverse teams and regions, ensuring alignment and transparency.
- Ensure deliverables meet internal governance, audit and regulatory standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of workflows, test results and system changes.
What will you bring to the role?
- Experience of 3+ years in the banking industry, ideally within Corporate or Transaction Banking.
- Strong understanding of Digital channels and Client-facing platforms.
- Proven ability to write functional specifications and support system testing.
- Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.
- Technical proficiency in system navigation, data analysis and troubleshooting.
