Role Summary

SMBC Group EMEA are looking for a Technical Functional Analyst (Assistant Vice President) for our Cash Management Solutions department to join our Team.

 

This role is part of a rapidly growing CMS Team with a large and strategic mandate under the Transaction Banking Programme, focused on transforming how we deliver Cash Management services across EMEA.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the analysis of business requirements for Deposit products (e.g., savings, current accounts, term deposits).
  • Translating business needs into clear, actionable functional and technical specifications.
  • Supporting the upgrade of our Core Accounting system.

This role will be based in Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD), a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA.  It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies.

Position Description

As Technical Functional Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the design, development and testing of Deposit products functionalities within our core banking systems.

You will act as a subject matter expert, collaborating across business and technology teams to ensure the delivery of secure, compliant and efficient solutions aligned with strategic objectives.

You will serve as a trusted liaison between Business users, Compliance teams and IT stakeholders across regions, and you will provide timely and professional responses to inquiries and incidents.

 

Our role will enable you to:

 

  • Lead the analysis of business requirements for Deposit products (e.g., savings, current accounts, term deposits).
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable functional and technical specifications
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure accurate and timely implementation of deposit features.
  • Provide guidance throughout design, development and deployment phases.
  • Define and execute system test cases, support UAT and production validation.
  • Ensure defects are tracked, resolved and documented effectively.
  • Utilise FIS Profile to support configuration and enhancement of deposit functionalities.
  • Apply UNIX/AIX/Linux terminal commands for system navigation, log analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet internal governance, audit and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of functional flows, test results and system changes.

 

What will you bring to the role?

 

  • Solid experience of 3+ years in the Banking Industry, particularly with Deposit products.
  • Strong background in Banking IT systems and/or system development.
  • Hands-on experience with system testing and defect management.
  • Proficiency with the FIS Profile core banking application.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX/AIX/Linux terminal commands.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to deposit products.
