Role Summary

SMBC Group EMEA are looking for a Technical Functional Analyst for our Cash Management Solutions department to join our team!

 

This role is part of a rapidly growing CMS Team with a large and strategic mandate under the Transaction Banking Programme, focused on transforming how we deliver Cash Management services across EMEA.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, analysing and supporting the delivery of API-based services and Open Banking capabilities.
  • Gathering and analysing business and regulatory requirements for API and Open Banking services.
  • Supporting the integration with internal systems and external platforms (e.g., ERP, fintechs, partner banks).

This role will be based within Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD), a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA.  It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies.

 

Position Description

As a Technical Functional Analyst in the Cash Management Solutions (CMS) team, you will play a key role in designing, analysing and supporting the delivery of API-based services and Open Banking capabilities. 

You will work closely with business stakeholders, developers and external partners to ensure that our API ecosystem supports secure, scalable and compliant Cash Management services for our Corporate clients.

You will collaborate with regional business teams, compliance, operations and technology stakeholders and vendors, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of integration features and connectivity solutions.

 

Our role will enable you to:

  • Gather and analyse business and regulatory requirements for API and Open Banking services.
  • Translate functional needs into technical specifications and user stories.
  • Collaborate with architects and developers to design APIs for payments, collections, liquidity and reporting.
  • Support integration with internal systems and external platforms (e.g., ERP, fintechs, partner banks).
  • Contribute to the implementation of Open Banking standards (e.g., PSD2, ISO 20022).
  • Ensure APIs meet security, authentication and consent management requirements.
  • Define and execute test cases for API functionality, performance and security.
  • Support automated testing efforts using tools such as Postman, SoapUI or JMeter.
  • Liaise with business units, compliance teams and external partners to ensure alignment and smooth delivery.
  • Provide technical support during onboarding and integration phases.
  • Maintain API documentation, data flow diagrams and integration guides.
  • Ensure deliverables meet internal governance, audit and regulatory standards.

 

What will you bring to the role?

  • Experience in the banking industry, ideally within Corporate or Transaction Banking.
  • Strong understanding of API technologies, including REST, JSON, OAuth2 and OpenAPI specifications.
  • Familiarity with Open Banking frameworks and regulatory standards.
  • Experience with system testing, including API testing and automation.
  • Exposure to API gateways, developer portals and cloud-based integration platforms.
