Position Description
As SMBC continues to evolve its IT Service Delivery capabilities, it has become clear that the Service Design & Introduction practices require targeted uplift to meet the standards of structured governance, operational readiness, and lifecycle traceability. This role will play a critical role in embedding service design into transformation and BAU initiatives, ensuring services are resilient, compliant, and supportable from day one. This reflects the commitment to strengthening ITSD maturity and aligning with strategic pillars across risk, reliability, and regulatory enablement.
Role Summary
The Service Design & Introduction Manager ensures new and changed IT services across SMBC EMEA are delivered in a structured, compliant, and supportable way, aligned with internal standards and regulatory frameworks like ECB and DORA. The role also drives the development and embedding of service design processes and governance, working closely with project, architecture, and operations teams.
- Service Design & Transition: Deliver structured Service Design Packages for new or changed services, ensuring readiness through validated components and collaboration with technical teams.
- Regulatory & Programme Support: Align service readiness with regulatory requirements like DORA, maintaining traceability and supporting resilience and continuity capabilities.
- Governance & Stakeholder Engagement: Standardise processes and templates, engage cross-functional stakeholders, and contribute to continuous improvement in service onboarding and operational readiness.
- Service Design Expertise: Experience in IT Service Design and Transition within financial services, with strong documentation and process design skills.
- Frameworks & Tools: Familiarity with ITIL v4, project management certification, and proficiency in tools like ServiceNow, Visio, and SharePoint.
- Regulatory & Stakeholder Awareness: Knowledge of DORA and experience working with Japanese or Asian financial institutions, alongside strong stakeholder engagement capabilities.

This will be within Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD), a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA. It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies.
