The successful candidate will join SMFD in Dublin, which serves as a Centre of Excellence for SMBC across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, delivering high‑quality technology, operational, and control services. They will be part of a dynamic, diverse team located in the heart of Dublin’s historic Georgian business district.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Reconciliation Services Owner / Technology Lead (VP) to lead the reconciliation technology capability within the Information Technology, Security Department (ITSD), Cross Product Platforms group. You will own reconciliation services across EMEA, covering platforms such as Duco, Intellimatch and other reconciliation technologies. This is a unique opportunity to lead the strategy, service ownership and operational excellence of enterprise reconciliation systems, driving transformation and influencing how SMBC supports Operations, Finance and regulatory functions. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership and service ownership to mature this capability for the region, ensuring platform stability, continuous improvement and standardisation to enhance data quality, controls and alignment with global best practices.
Position Description
Key responsibilities
- Owning the end‑to‑end reconciliation technology domain across EMEA, ensuring platform resilience and service excellence
- Leading strategy, roadmap planning, and architectural direction for reconciliation services
- Managing multiple reconciliation platforms, including Duco, Intellimatch, and other technologies
- Driving delivery of enhancements, new reconciliations, system upgrades, and integration initiatives
- Establishing standardised operating models, governance controls, and quality frameworks across reconciliation processes
- Overseeing both IT‑built and business‑built reconciliations, ensuring consistency, controls, and data integrity
- Partnering with global teams to align technology, share best practices, and expand use‑case adoption
- Managing vendor relationships
- Collaborating with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Compliance, and Regulatory Reporting to understand requirements, prioritise needs, and optimise reconciliation solutions
- Monitoring platform performance, risk, compliance, and audit findings, and leading the implementation of continuous improvements, remediation actions, and control uplifts
Required experience
- Strong hands‑on experience with reconciliation platforms (e.g., Intellimatch, Duco)
- Deep understanding of data integrity processes, matching logic, exception workflows, and reconciliation design principles
- Experience operating as a product or service owner with accountability for platform performance and roadmaps
- Understanding of integration patterns, data sourcing, entitlements, and technical change governance
- Strong delivery management ability across BAU, change, testing cycles, and incident management
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Ability to manage vendor relationships, contracts, and escalations effectively
- Strong communication, analytical and decision‑making skills, with a focus on structured problem‑solving and control improvement
Desirable experience
- Experience working with global operating models or multi-region reconciliation platforms
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting reconciliations (incl. EMIR, MiFID, SFTR, Volcker)
- Experience working in a hybrid business/technology domain or in a product owner capacity
Education and qualifications
- Degree‑level education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Professional certifications such as ITIL, Agile/Scrum, or data management qualifications are advantageous but not essential
