Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We're continuing our cloud adoption journey and seeking a highly skilled and motivated Google Cloud Engineer (Vice President) to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing cloud-based solutions on the Google Cloud Platform as part of a multicloud environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, resilient, scalable and secure solutions that meet business requirements.

SMBC has grown its business in EMEA significantly over the years and that rapid growth has been enabled by integrating different applications to meet the needs of our business.  The growth of the application estate is going to continue, with the volume of trading increasing using a greater diversity of products.

This role will sit within Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD), a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC.  It was established in 1989 and is now located in contemporary offices in the heart of Dublin’s Georgian quarter. It is a Centre of Excellence for SMBC’s business in Europe, Middle East & Africa and provides a growing range of intra-group services across a variety of Control and Support functions.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Working closely with our IT colleagues (including Information Security, Networks, Infrastructure and Support) design, implement and maintain Google Cloud core infrastructure and resources to support our business 
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD DevSecOps tools 
• Monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments ensuring high availability and performance 
• Working with Information Security, assist in the implementation and management of security best practices, including access control, data encryption and threat detection 
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing applications and systems 
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Google Cloud technologies and industry best practices 
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of new cloud-based technologies and services 
• Contribute to the improvement of cloud operations and processes 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Cloud Engineer in Google Cloud Platform 
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and their Google Cloud implementation including networking, storage and security as well as other concepts such as SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
• Experience and understanding of enterprise patterns and best practices around building out GCP for a regulated organisation (e.g. Landing Zones, Enterprise foundations blueprint, network and connectivity options, etc.)
• Proven experience with DevSecOps practices (e.g. Git, CI/CD) and tools such as Google Cloud DevOps, Cloud Build, GitHub Enterprise and GitLab 
• Strong proficiency with IaC tools which must include Terraform 
• Solid understanding of Google Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) 
• Experience with scripting languages, e.g. PowerShell, Bash and Python 
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills 
• Strong communications and collaboration skills with the ability to produce clear documentation in corporate Wiki tools, for example 
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes is a plus 
• Relevant Google Cloud certifications are a plus 
• Experience of other Cloud Service Providers and their offerings, in particular Microsoft Azure and AWS, is also a strong plus
