Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Security Assessment Automation Architect (Vice President) for our Security Architecture & Engineering team to join our team!
This is a high-impact SME role focused on automating security assessments across hybrid environments—supporting the Bank’s growing reliance on data and secure-by-default development practices.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing automated security assessment pipelines across CI/CD workflows.
- Embedding security into Infrastructure as Code and production assurance processes.
- Collaborating with DevOps and platform teams to drive a shift-left security approach.
For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:
- Strong experience with security automation, DevSecOps, and CI/CD integration.
- Deep knowledge of SAST, DAST, IAST, SCA, and Policy as Code tools.
- Ability to influence architectural decisions and communicate complex security concepts.

About this role:
This role supports the Security Architecture team in building scalable, automated security assessment capabilities across SMBC’s hybrid IT landscape. It plays a key part in enabling secure innovation, reducing risk, and ensuring consistent security enforcement across cloud and on-prem environments. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, DevOps, and platform teams.
Our role will enable you to:
- Design and implement automated security assessment pipelines using tools like SAST, DAST, IAST, and SCA.
- Integrate security into Infrastructure as Code workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop policy-as-code frameworks to enforce security baselines and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed security early in the development lifecycle.
- Lead proof-of-value initiatives and continuously evaluate new security tools and techniques.
What will you bring to the role?
- Experience with security automation, IaC, and DevSecOps practices.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell).
- Strong understanding of cloud and on-prem security assessment strategies.
- Experience with Policy as Code (e.g. OPA, Azure Policy) and ephemeral infrastructure security.
- Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF, ISO 27001) and hybrid environments.
