Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Run-The-Bank QA Technical tester to join our Quality Assurance team to help protect production by verifying that any change introduced to a live application will not cause disruption, errors, or compliance issues.
This role is 100% hands-on initially focusing on DWH RTB testing and will be expected to carry out dual hatting role of manual testing and test automation implementation in the RTB team. The candidate will be required to carry out functional testing, production support defect testing, regression testing as well as assisting with automation of RTB regression packs in the DWH product team. The QA analyst will be involved in ensuring test quality throughout the software development and project lifecycles interfacing several front offices, integrated and downstream applications, IT enhancement, application upgrade, production support incidents and end to end regression testing using an agile methodology.
The QA Analyst will partner with Business, Internal IT, QA team, automation team, BAs, developers, Production Support and third-party vendor resources to enhance existing software and validate new solutions via testing to meet business needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive test documentation and traceability using XRAY and JIRA
- Ownership of Regression, Functional, emergency change and defect testing across FO to BO systems in production
- Supporting test automation build-out for regression packs across RTB platform applications
For you to succeed in the role, you will need to have:
- Strong manual and test automation testing experience for Front Office (FO) to Back Office (BO) applications
- Proven test coordination and stakeholder collaboration with production defect triage and root cause analysis experience
- Good analytic and scripting skills using Python and Java script
- Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server, and database skills.
- Practical experience with test management in XRAY/JIRA, defect triage, and reporting
Business Area
The Technology Quality Assurance team sits within IT & Security Planning Department (ITSD) and essentially supports the needs of the Capital Markets and Corporate Banking business by constantly questioning the process in the software development life cycle (SDLC) to ensure the project team is building the right product in the correct manner.
QA establishes and maintain standards on how to best test a software product. Having solid software testing practices is a huge asset to any team to produce a well-functioning application that meets end user requirements.
This role will be based in Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD), a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC. It was established in 1989 and is now located in contemporary offices in the heart of Dublin’s Georgian quarter. It is a Centre of Excellence for SMBC’s business in Europe, Middle East & Africa and provides a growing range of intra-group services across a variety of Control and Support functions
Position Description
This role has been created to support testing for increase in change volume, to reduce manual regression burden, risk and incident mitigation, test automation uplift and regional coverage expansion. This role will add value to the SDLC process and plays a key role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and quality of production systems by focusing testing on bug fixes, enhancements, regulatory updates, production support, emergency releases, and platform stability patches made to live systems for critical banking systems covering Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office applications. The AVP will work closely with QA Leads, Developers, DevOps, BAs, Application Owners, Environment Managers, Release managers and Operations Teams to deliver continuous testing improvements and safeguard production integrity.
The successful candidate will be expected to initially work under the guidance of a RTB QA Lead to embed quality through all phases of the project and collaborate as part of the QA team for verification and validation of business requirements test scripts, management of specific project test environments, test data, test repository, defect management and test workload.
Specifically, the QA analyst elicits, analyses, validates, and documents business, technical and operational test scenarios, and ensures the technical solutions developed or procured meets the specified functional and non-functional requirements. Specific tasks include:
- Test automation of regression test packs to reduce manual testing footprint and increase efficiency.
- Reviewing requirements, specifications, and other project documentation to assure quality of the products to be developed.
- Defining test scenarios and test scripts covering project or BAU requirements under test
- Maintaining and executing test suites for various SMBC Core IT Software products
- System integration and Regression testing
- Ensuring production support defects are tested and validated in line with acceptance criteria as well as managing defect resolution.
- Working with the Development, BA, and QA team to create, review and reuse Test Cases during test scope planning
- Working with SMBC Production Support Team to ensure production defects are fixed and retested.
- Where appropriate collaborate with SMBC Developers and vendor consultants to monitor and resolve issues from application upgrade testing.
- Learning and maintaining test pack scripts using XRAY test management tool
- Maintaining, building, supporting, and improving the Regression Test Pack for SMBC core systems
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent working experience
- ISTQB foundation level certification in software testing or equivalent
- Foundation level certified software automation tester or equivalent
