Role Summary

  • Drive Regulatory Reporting single-set of truth data strategy aligning with ECB requirements like iREF/ BIRD and support the transformation of the regulatory reporting production into a data-centric organisation.
  • Building and maintaining a consistent data production environment as basis for core regulatory returns like COREP, FINREP and Pillar 3, SREP STE, EBA QIS, EBA Stress test.
  • Building and maintaining regulatory reporting controls environment ensuring accurate, high-quality data and reports. Define and execute key-controls like accounting reconciliation, period-to-period analysis, data consistency analysis.

Business Area

SMFD is a core subsidiary within SMBC Group’s EMEA operations delivering nearshore services for multiple branches and affiliates operating in the region. One of those entities we support is SMBC EU.

 

The SMBC EU F&C department is responsible for all finance functions of the bank. It is divided in four teams:

1.  Accounting & Reporting

2.  Financial Control & Product Control

3.  Tax

4.  Regulatory Reporting.

The F&C department assumes responsibility for the finance activities of SMBC EU AG and SMBC Düsseldorf branch and oversees the finance function of all SMBC EU branches in Paris, Madrid, Dublin, Prague, Milan and Amsterdam.

The finance functions cover the following core responsibilities:

  1. Accounting & Reporting – ongoing bookkeeping & accounting, preparation of annual financial statements and coordination of external audit, compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, GGAP), maintenance of internal control system for financial accounting, financial (non-regulatory) reporting to internal& external parties, management of IT projects, calculation of SLA charges.
  2. Financial Control & Product Control – ongoing monitoring of financial performance incl. lead of annual financial forecast/MYP process, development of a product control function in line with MaRisk including daily monitoring of trading result, market conformity checks of valuation & pricing.
  3. Tax Compliance – monitoring of changes to tax legislation, maintenance of tax compliance system, review of all tax declarations, maintenance of transfer pricing documentation, support for other teams on all tax related matters.
  4. Regulatory Reporting - Compliance with all EU & German regulatory & ESG reporting requirements,

Coordination of ongoing prudential reporting.

Position Description

  • Managing Regulatory Reporting Data Production team in Dublin
  • Drive Regulatory Reporting single-set of truth data strategy aligning with ECB requirements like iREF/ BIRD and support the transformation of the regulatory reporting production into a data-centric organisation.
  • Coordinate and support the preparation of regulatory reporting data as basis for key-regulatory reports and disclosures like CoRep, FinRep and Pillar 3, in particularly ensure that process are documented sufficiently, controls are designed effectively, controls are executed and evidenced regularly.
  • Review control artefacts and prepare monthly/ quarterly assurance review walk-through with reporting SME.
  • Regularly review data corrections and support their remediation.
  • Support the review of reporting and disclosure templates as well as ad-hoc requests, in particularly ensure that controls like consistency controls, drill-downs, analytical reviews, period-on-period movement analysis are effectively designed, executed and properly evidenced.
  • Support the preparation and presentation of assurance packs and management reviews.

 

  • Strong skills in data analytics and relevant IT tools, e.g. expert knowledge in Excel, SQL for data extraction and transformation, Power BI.
  • Experience in leading small team in the area of regulatory or financial reporting or data operations.
  • Previous related experience in a regulatory reporting, financial reporting or product control role within a financial institutions or consultancy firm.
  • Educated to Bachelors / masters level; any professional qualification is considered as a plus
  • Be able to understand complex concepts, challenge them and provide explanations in a clear and precise way
  • Be able to work independently
