The successful candidate will join Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD) which is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA.  It provides a range of high-quality technology and operational and control services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies. The role will be part of a dynamic, diverse team located in the heart of Dublin’s historic Georgian business district.

 

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Finance Technology – Technical Analyst (VP) to lead the gathering of technical requirements for Finance projects and programmes  or Front office/Regulatory initiatives impacting Finance domain, within the Information Technology, Security Department (ITSD), Cross Product Platforms group. This role provides a unique opportunity to act as a vital link between Finance business teams (Finance Control, Product control, Regulatory Reporting) and technology team. You will partner with Programme / Project managers in the inception phase to identify the scope, impact assessment, defining the problem statement for “As Is” technical processes and flows, designing the “To Be” target state in line with the EMEA wide finance business & technology architecture requirements.  The role requires strong understanding of Finance domain to drive digital transformation by translating complex requirements into actionable technical specifications, ensuring platform stability, continuous improvement, standardization of controls and alignment with global best practices.

 

This role will report to the CFO IT Platform Lead in London, with a dotted line into the Cross Product Team Lead in Dublin and will be responsible for leading a team of six.

 

Position Description

  • Lead requirements gathering & documentation: Collaborating with stakeholders across EMEA Finance, Front office teams, to elicit, analyse, prioritise and document complex business requirements (functional/nonfunctional) using JIRA and Confluence for EMEA Finance BOW.
  • Data Analysis & Modelling development: Perform in-depth data analysis to define target state financial data flows, ensure data lineage and embed data quality controls across systems.
  • Process re-engineering and automation delivery: Utilise Agile methodologies to redesign and deliver automated finance processes including reconciliation, reporting and adjustment capabilities.  
  • Testing & Implementation: define test scenarios, cases and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure software solutions meet business requirements.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops team members, fostering a high‑performance culture and building capability to support consistent, high‑quality technical delivery.

Required Experience

  • Domain Knowledge: Extensive hands-on experience with strong understanding of finance business capabilities in an investment bank, flows and controls. Good understanding of accounting knowledge for financial products (Securities, Lending, Repo, FX, Equities).
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with accountability for delivery and performance management.
  • Sound understanding of data integrity processes, business and technical controls, data flows across upstream and downstream systems
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking, decisionmaking skills, with a focus on structured problemsolving and control improvement.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries to analyse data across databases is required.

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree‑level education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional certifications such as ITIL, Agile/Scrum, or data management qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
