Who we are

Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank’s universal banking business across EMEA.  It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC’s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies.

Purpose of Job

Working closely with HR, ITSD project teams, global technology partners, enterprise application owners and third-party HR technology suppliers, the role will lead the delivery, enhancement and support of HR technology and integration capabilities across EMEA. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining deep subject matter expertise in HR technology platforms, interfaces and organisational data with responsibility for guiding a team of integration analysts, application owners and developers. The role will manage the pipeline of HR technology demand, working with HR and business stakeholders to assess priorities, shape solutions, allocate resources and ensure delivery is aligned to regional, global and ITSD objectives. 

The role will oversee the design, configuration, testing and implementation of changes across key HR technology services, including SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow HRSD and IRM, Headcount Planning, Qualtrics, Identity and Access Management Integrations and downstream bank applications. It will ensure that all platform and interface changes are delivered in line with agreed development standards, data governance requirements, security controls, change management processes and operational support models. The successful candidate will be expected to influence senior stakeholders, maintain strong vendor and cross-functional relationships, provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical leadership, and drive continuous improvement across the EMEA HR technology landscape. 

Background

  • The core focus of this role will be enhancement and support of HR integrations to core bank systems. This role will lead a team of SME’s. 
  • The role involves working closely with business customers and other members of ITSD team to deliver optimal and prioritised business solutions  

Facts and Scale

  • Work will be predominantly project focussed, with oversight of some BAU activity 
  • Possible occasional travel (Max 1-2 per year) 
  • Up to 6 direct reports. 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Own the EMEA HR Technology and Integration landscape, including HR platforms, integrations, organisational data and downstream bank applications. 
  • Partner with EMEA HR, business stakeholders, ITSD teams and Global Technology teams to define the HR technology roadmap and align delivery with strategic priorities. 
  • Assess, prioritise and manage HR technology demand, ensuring alignment of business objectives, regulatory requirements and regional needs. 
  • Lead the design, build, testing and implementation of HR technology solutions, enhancements and integrations across the HR application portfolio. 
  • Provide expert guidance on HR technology platforms, integration architecture, organisational data management and technology-enabled process improvements. 
  • Ensure all technology changes comply with architecture standards, information security policies, data governance requirements and change management processes. 
  • Manage third-party technology vendors and service providers, overseeing delivery performance, service quality, contractual commitments and value realisation. 
  • Build and develop a high-performing technical team of integration analysts, application owners and developers by providing technical oversight, leadership, coaching, performance management and career development support, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and technical excellence. 
  • Maintain accountability for platform stability, release management, upgrades, operational resilience and continuous improvement across the HR technology estate. 
  • Monitor business, regulatory and legislative developments, ensuring the EMEA HR technology landscape remains secure, compliant, scalable and aligned to future business requirements. 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience leading HR technology services within a global matrix organisation, ideally across in Financial Services or a similarly complex environment. 
  • Strong hands-on expertise in HR technology platforms, integration technologies, interface design, data flows and downstream enterprise application connectivity. 
  • Significant experience enhancing and supporting HR systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow HRSD, ServiceNow IRM, Headcount Planning, Qualtrics or comparable HR technology platforms. 
  • Good understanding of Identity and Access Management architecture, Azure Active Directory integrations and organisational data dependencies. 
  • Proven ability to manage a pipeline of HR technology demand, assess priorities, shape delivery plans and align resources to business, regional and global objectives. 
  • Confident using tools such as Confluence and JIRA to document requirements, maintain delivery plans, organise workload, track progress and provide clear visibility of priorities, dependencies and decisions. 
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience guiding technical teams such as integration analysts, application owners and developers across project and BAU activities. 
  • Excellent stakeholder management and consultancy skills, with the ability to translate HR and business requirements into practical, secure and scalable technology solutions. 
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences and produce concise technical documentation. 
  • Collaborative and influential, able to build trusted relationships across HR, ITSD, global technology teams, enterprise application owners and third-party suppliers. 
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the confidence to investigate system issues, assess root causes and support resolution before escalation. 
  • Solution-focused and commercially aware, with the ability to balance project delivery, operational stability, security controls, data governance and change management requirements. 
  • Organised, flexible and comfortable working with ambiguity, adapting priorities as business, regulatory, legislative or technology requirements evolve. 
  • Creative and innovative approach to continuous improvement, with intellectual curiosity and a strong understanding of the HR and wider business context. 
  • Personally accountable, acts with integrity and fairness, and demonstrates commitment to team objectives, service quality and organisational growth. 
  • Degree-level education, equivalent professional qualification or relevant industry experience is desirable.
