Role Summary

The Trade Finance Application Support AVP is responsible for supporting IT Trade Finance applications and tools used by SMBC Trade Finance Operations and the Global Trade Finance Department.

 Activities include:

•           Triage of user issues and incident management.

•           Escalation to EMEA service owner where applicable.

•           Providing technical and functional support and provide guidance and training to Associate on team

•           Collaborating with the Business Process Owner and Business Groups to support issue resolution & new requirements

•           Support of project work when applicable including the QA team in Tralee

•           The role requires a SME level Trade Finance and (ideally) Supply Chain Finance

•           Requirement analysis, refinement and documentation for new requirements or system changes

•           Internal IT process support

•           Vendor Management

•           Service Owner Support

Business Area

SMBC Trade Finance business users are reliant on technology i.e. Business Applications, Tools and Solutions to support the Trade Finance products that SMBC is offering its clients.

Trade Finance Business knowledge is required to be able to understand user requirements.

This is a role that will provide the ideal candidate with a strong AVP level experience in Technology in the Banking and Financial Services industry with a specialised Trade Finance technology and applications direction.

Prior Experience of Application and Business Support in a Financial Institution covering Trade Finance application and Technology essential.

Position Description

  • Provide Level 1/2 support for Eximbills (including incident resolution, root cause analysis and identifying preventive measures), and for the smaller onboarded applications and tools related to Trade Finance
  • Log issues and track incident resolution (JIRA, SNOW etc).
  • Collaborate with business users, operations and technology teams to resolve functional and technical issues (such as unwinding incorrect processing; identifying workarounds for system limitations; investigating / explaining reconciliation breaks; investigating / explaining incorrect P&Ls and Balances).
  • Escalate to EMEA Service Owner / Product Owner for more complicated issues to be investigated.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability respective applications.
  • Test, document and present bugs to vendor for resolution.
  • Assist in application upgrades, patches and configuration changes.
  • Assist with Eximbills testing with downstream interfaces and Tokyo for new products / codes or any other downstream requests.
  • Answer any questions and explain Eximbills to the QA team to enable understanding of their test results vs expectations.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Respond to inquiries from JRIE regarding the extraction of data via SQL.
  • Support the Cognos team by understanding business requirements and creating SQL queries for reporting purposes.
  • Monitor Eximbills interface failures (for EMEA users)

Skill, Experience and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in application support, with at least 3 years supporting TF applications
  • Strong understanding of Syndications, Agency, Loan Trading and Interest / Fee Calculations.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA).
  • Previous experience in User Acceptance Testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment with on-call responsibilities.
  • Trade Finance Core Systems – ideally Eximbills
  • Cloud Solutions – e.g. Komgo, ELCY, Galileo, Traydstream etc.
  •  

Preferred:

  • Experience with Eximbills
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in SQL, and batch job monitoring.
