Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Cloud Security Automation Architect (Vice President) for our Security Architecture & Engineering team to join our team!
This is a high-impact SME role at the forefront of cloud security and automation—supporting the Bank’s growing reliance on data and cloud-native technologies to drive innovation.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Designing and implementing automated cloud security controls and reusable “as code” modules.
- Leading cloud security architecture and collaborating across teams to embed security into cloud strategies.
- Driving innovation through secure-by-default automation and DevSecOps practices.
For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:
- Proven experience in cloud security architecture and automation (Azure/GCP).
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps, IaC, and Policy as Code.
- Ability to influence architectural decisions and communicate complex security concepts.

About this role:
This role supports the Security Architecture team in defining and implementing secure, automated solutions across SMBC’s hybrid cloud environments. It plays a key part in enabling secure innovation, reducing friction, and protecting critical assets and data. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders across IT, Cloud, and Security Engineering.
Our role will enable you to:
- Design and implement cloud-compatible security controls and reusable automation modules.
- Lead cloud security design reviews and contribute to the Security Reference Architecture.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to embed security into CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
- Drive proof-of-concept initiatives to validate new security automation approaches.
What will you bring to the role?
- Experience with cloud-native security tooling, IaC, and DevSecOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF, ISO 27001) and cloud platforms (Azure/GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell).
- Experience with CSPM, CWPP, and Policy as Code (e.g. OPA, Azure Policy).
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and their security implications (e.g. AI/ML, Quantum Computing).
