Role Summary

  • The VP Credit & Execution Analyst is an integral part of the Execution Team. The VP will be responsible for supporting relationship managers in executing live transactions and managing the end-to-end deal process. This role bridges client coverage and execution by ensuring smooth transaction delivery, from origination through to closing.
  • The role requires providing comprehensive credit, structuring, and execution support to front office coverage bankers, including direct interaction with clients to gather information required for credit approvals, structuring, and negotiation of live deals including term sheets.
  • The VP Credit & Execution Analyst acts as the first line of execution support, working closely with both clients and internal stakeholders to ensure that transactions meet client needs while complying with bank standards.
  • The role takes ownership of the transaction execution process – including credit applications, deal structuring, financial modelling, due diligence coordination, legal documentation, and closing – while maintaining ongoing communication with the client throughout.
  • Success in this role requires strong financial analytical skills, corporate finance knowledge and financial modelling skills, and sector expertise, combined with the ability to interface directly with clients, legal advisors, and internal risk and product teams.

Business Area

  • Middle East CIB is the principal coverage team in the Middle East for corporate clients (focusing on FIs, SWFs, Sovereigns and Corporates) across Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and other GCC countries + Egypt, contributing revenues of c. $150m.
  • The business has around 65+ customers and the VP Credit & Transaction Analyst prepares approximately 30 applications per year and manages relevant Credit and other deal related committees
  • This role is front office aligned, with responsibility for client coverage in the execution phase – ensuring clients experience a seamless process from origination to closing. 
  • This role reports directly to Head of the Transaction Execution Team, operating under close supervision.
  • The role requires strong understanding of Corporate Finance theory, Corporate financial modelling skills and LMA documentation and may include knowledge of other financing approaches such as M&A, trade, leasing and asset financing.
  • Main interfaces/relationships are with:
    • Front Office Teams and department members up to GM level
    • Credit department, CPD, legal, other marketing departments (ECA, CBD1 &2, GTFD, SPD etc), OAD, DCM and Derivatives, LCM, TD etc in EMEA
    • Other Global SMBC offices for specific transactions
    • Customers (financial and industrial), other banks and financial institutions, DFIs & ECAs 

Position Description

Background

  • The VP Credit & Transaction Analyst primarily leads the execution of live transactions originated or pitched by the front office, including:
  • Supporting the structuring and execution of Corporate Finance transactions (RCF/Term Loans, M&A financings, Trade Loans, Derivatives etc.)
  • Preparation and presentation of client-focused, high-quality transaction summary sheets
  • Drafting and coordinating credit applications and approvals, including direct discussions with clients to ensure timely provision of financial and business information
  • Drafting Term Sheets along with relationship managers for client pitches
  • Liaising with internal KYC teams to ensure timely KYC onboarding
  • Financial modelling and scenario analysis to support credit decision-making
  • Leading the negotiation and execution of financial documentation (LMA, ISDA, bilateral/club/syndicated deals) with client involvement
  • Representing ISD in approval committees (Credit Committees, Risk Committees), ensuring that client context and transaction rationale are clearly articulated

Accountabilities & Responsibilities 

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of new client transactions, from structuring to closing
  • Client coverage in execution phase: liaise directly with clients to obtain required information, clarify transaction structures, negotiate key documentation terms, and manage execution timelines
  • Work alongside coverage bankers to provide credit and execution expertise in preparing proposals and client presentations
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (Credit, Legal, LCM, OAD, CPD, Syndications, DCM, etc.) to ensure smooth execution and risk alignment
  • Prepare high-quality credit applications and transaction materials, with clear communication of client rationale and transaction risks
  • Conduct financial modelling and analysis for live transactions, providing insights for both clients and internal approval committees
  • Lead the LMA/ISDA documentation process, including coordination with clients and external counsel
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, while maintaining a client-first execution mindset

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong track record of leading large Corporate Finance transactions (end-to-end) within a global Financial Institution
  • Ability to manage multiple live transactions under tight deadlines and client expectations. Strong banking product knowledge including Loans, Derivatives and Risk Solutions, Trade Finance, M&A etc.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship management skills, with experience interacting directly with corporate clients, SWFs, and financial institutions Strong knowledge and experience of corporate finance theory, practice, risk analysis, credit, execution and documentation
  • Strong knowledge of financial modelling across key sectors such as Oil & Gas / Power & Utilities, TMT, F&B etc. and understanding of KPIs within these key sectors
  • Good knowledge of Middle East customers and clients with the ability to anticipate and respond to client needs during execution
  • Education & Qualifications: Degree level education as a minimum, CFA or MBA preferred
