Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a AVP, Accounting & Internal Control for our Finance & Control Department to join our team.
- Supporting in compiling and implementing the Dubai F&C Internal Controls Framework within F&C Dubai in line with F&C EMEA Internal Controls framework.
- Develop technical expertise to implement a Treasury Products & Hedge Accounting for SMBC Dubai, ME entities and SBMC BI (ADGM)
- Financial Control , accounting and Internal reporting to support SASSA (KSA) and SMBCBI (ADGM)
- Playing key role in activities like IFRS Model & Methodology Implementation, , SLA monitoring & control, Tax accounting and Automation support.
- Support in managing TPRM activities related F&C Dubai.
- Key point of contact in meeting all accounting requirements for compiling various tax and regulatory returns for all ME entities.
- High quality understanding of treasury related activities like hedge accounting, Fx management, derivatives etc.
- High quality oversight and support to the end-to-end financial accounting processes associated
- Support in various ADHOC automation initiative and coordinate with external & internal stakeholders for implementing various automation solution for Accounting & Control section within the region.
- Act as backup for other team members.
Background
- Implementing & Compiling Internal Control Framework in F&C Dubai across F&C Dubai
- Operation of Fx and Hedge Accounting processes on behalf of SMBC Dubai, ME entities and SBMC BI (ADGM)
- Playing key role in activities like IFRS Model & Methodology Implementation, SLA monitoring & control, Tax accounting and Automation support,
- Responsible for support in all accounting & reporting requirements for SASSA (KSA) and SMBC BI (ADGM), in particular:
- Executing all day to day accounting & internal reporting activities
- Producing legal entity aligned financial updates
- Ensuring GL bookings are complete, accurate and well-controlled
- Preparing HO reports for SMBC BI and SMBC branches
- The role requires a deep understanding of IFRS 9 models, financial statement audits, SLA management, and treasury products—including derivatives and hedge accounting—along with hands-on experience managing audits for SASSA (KSA) operations.
- It also involves working closely with the Director on major accounting system enhancements and projects, providing senior-level technical expertise and governance support.
Facts and Scale
- Compilation of Internal Control Framework Report periodically for F&C Dubai
- Coordinate with all F&C teams to compile and finalise Internal Control dashboard in line with EMEA process.
- Develop technical expertise to implement Fx and hedge accounting for SMBC Dubai, ME entities and SBMC BI (ADGM)
- Playing key role in activities like IFRS Model & Methodology Implementation, , SLA monitoring & control, Tax accounting and Automation support,
- The role is in the Financial Accounting and Control section of the team department, and has responsibility for accounting & reporting for SASSA (KSA) and- SMBC BI ADGM
- SLA Monitoring for making accurate provisioning & booking of SLA cost including analysing working.
- Maintenance of Relationships with business, within finance and other departments
- A good team player
- Ongoing discussions with UK regional team
