Role Summary

  • The AVP DCM officer supports senior DCM officers and where appropriate initiates and participates in client emails, calls and meetings
  • Liaising with the syndicate desks to prepare indicative bond pricing updates to issuers
  • Working on the execution of mandated transactions in collaboration with relevant colleagues depending on assigned Joint Lead Manager role (e.g. investor presentation, logistics, documentation, etc.);
  • Gathering necessary information from issuers for the purposes of completing KYC on-boarding and compliance periodic reviews
  • Helping with the administration function where appropriate

Debt Capital Markets - Origination Paris

The team is part of DCM EMEA, providing advice and solutions to Corporate clients across a wide range of capital markets products. The clients covered by team are located in France, BeLux, Scandinavia, and Southern Europe 

Position Description

  • Supports senior DCM officers in origination efforts and deal execution:
    • Help or compile recommendation (or generic) pitch books including legal/documentation schedules, pricing methodologies, market trends and deal planning and timing.
    • Establish regular contact with issuers and send regular pricing, market information and research such as new issue market flows/trends, distribution performances, comparable analysis.
    • Setting up daily secondary bond price/spread reference matrices (using market data services or internal input; circulate matrices to relevant users) and weekly/monthly market and product publications.
    • Liaise with other stakeholders and product partners (e.g. swap marketers, USD Syndicate in NY, USPP desk in NY, SMBC for Fiscal Agency function, M&A department, Corporate Solutions Group).
  • Supervise Junior resources like e.g. interns and supports recruiting processes
  • Build a network across SMBC Group, particularly with other juniors, and proactively exchanges marketing information with other DCM teams in London, New York, Tokyo and Sydney
  • Supports senior DCM officers in coverage of corporate clients based in France, BeLux, Southern Europe, as well as in Nordics countries
  • Supports communication between departments (Transaction Management, DCM, Syndicate, Fixed Income, Compliance, etc ) and helps with information requests from management

Experience:

  • AVP is a junior position. In this support role the AVPs learns and gains experience in marketing of EUR, USD, GBP, and JPY Senior Bonds, Hybrid Bonds, Liability Management, USPP and EU PP
  • 2 to 3 years of prior experience in fixed income markets
