Position Description
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Support to design, implement and maintain an effective internal control system across business units
- Conduct and monitor regular control assessments (e.g. Finance Control Dashboard) to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations and to identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed data governance principles into control processes, ensuring data integrity, traceability and accountability
- Prepare and present reports on control effectiveness to senior management
- Support internal and external audits, including coordination and response to audit findings
- Review of quarterly CIF and NON-CIF documentation & balance sheet substantiation
- Preparation and enhancement of Japanese SOX reporting (Prepare checklists, do walkthroughs etc.)
- Assure accounting related policies are up to date and accurate
- Champion a culture of risk awareness, control ownership and continuous improvement throughout the organization
- Ensuring compliance of accounting processes with HGB, IFRS and MaRisk
- Support of accounting projects and internal/external audits
- Support the New Product Process with responsibility for answering accounting-related question, the definition of relevant procedures, controls and the testing process for EU AG including branches
- Preparation of dedicated parts of the annual statutory reports (IFRS + HGB) including notes preparation with direct contact to auditors and coordination of relevant parts of the audit (e.g. Review Japanese SOX Reporting; IFRS 7 Notes)
- Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication with key stakeholders across the bank, specifically, F&C teams in EMEA, RMD, Treasury, PD
- Any other tasks assigned by Head of Accounting
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Long-term experience in an international financial institutions or consultancy firm in similar role
- Educated to master’s level; any professional qualification is considered as a plus
- Strong expertise in HGB and IFRS and understanding of control frameworks
- Be able to understand complex concepts, challenge them and provide clear and precise explanations
- Robust and clear communication style; ability to explain to senior management and senior front office staff any accounting-related matters
- Ability to independently weigh and evaluate solution options; ability to defend derived recommendations also in headwind situations
- Strong analytical, numerical and IT skills
- Excellent skills in Excel and Powerpoint are required, Advanced knowledge in other data tools is welcome
- Be able to work independently and to independently drive solutions to implementation
- Proven track record in building relationships (both internal and external) as well as demonstrating and promoting team spirit
- Language skills: German and English: business fluent
