Role Summary
1. ECB Direct Supervision Compliance:
Develop and maintain credit risk frameworks to comply with ECB and BaFin standards.
Liaise with ECB and BaFin on credit risk matters.
Ensure timely and compliant submissions.
Monitor regulatory trends and advise senior management.
2. Strategic Credit Risk Framework Development:
Implement a credit risk framework aligning with ECB, BaFin, and SMBC's global risk appetite.
Collaborate with UK and Tokyo headquarters to tailor policies to local needs.
Improve Risk Appetite Framework and Underwriting Guidelines.
3. Credit & Underwriting Transactions:
Authorize transactions per Credit Officer Approval Authority Policy.
Analyze Credit Applications and provide assessments.
4. Regulatory Engagement & Audits:
Prepare for ECB and BaFin inspections, ensuring compliance.
Respond to findings and implement remedial actions.
Manage internal communications and develop improvement plans.
5. Project Management & Coordination:
Oversee strategic credit risk initiatives, ensuring alignment with ECB and BaFin requirements.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance.
6. System & Data Management:
Work with IT and risk data teams to ensure systems support ECB and BaFin guidelines.
Enhance systems to capture data per Risk Appetite Framework and underwriting policies.
Ensure compliance with BCBS 239 for risk data aggregation.
7. ESG Risk Integration:
Integrate ESG risks into credit risk assessments.
Collaborate with global and regional teams to capture and report ESG risks.
8. Stakeholder & Regulatory Communications:
Maintain relationships with ECB and BaFin regulators.
Inform senior management and risk committees about regulatory requirements.
Lead internal training on ECB and BaFin frameworks and updates.
Position Description
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
-Strong knowledge of ECB and BaFin regulatory frameworks, particularly credit risk management as well as experience in developing Risk Appetite Frameworks, Underwriting Guidelines, and Risk Acceptance Criteria.
-Strong project management experience, particularly in implementing credit risk frameworks in alignment with ECB and BaFin regulatory requirements.
-Good experience in credit analysis in the field of corporate and/or structured banking products.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Proficiency in credit risk management systems and data management tools, ensuring system capabilities meet regulatory requirements.
-Direct experience in managing ESG risks in credit risk processes, particularly in the context of ECB and BaFin regulatory expectations.
