Section 2 – Purpose of Job

This role will be part of the newly established Business Design team and will be responsible for:

  • Working with Service Owners to bring services under formal Operational Management
  • Aligning Services with Business Design standards including support for Enhanced Service Resilience
  • Engaging with Service Owners and key Stakeholders to maintain Service Assets
  • Driving the delivery of Quality Outcomes that implement Business Strategy and adhere to Change Management Governance

This role requires close collaboration with Service Owners and key Stakeholders of services.

 

Section 3 – Background

  • SMBC EMEA has established the Transformation Strategy & Planning Group to enhance the strategic design capability within EMEA and improve the prioritisation and governance of transformation initiatives.
  • The Transformation Strategy & Planning Group augments existing teams and capabilities within SMBC EMEA to ensure that change investment in EMEA enables the EMEA business strategy and delivers the specified transformational business outcomes.
  • The Business Design team is a key part of the Transformation Strategy & Planning Group and will lead the work to evolve the Business Strategy for SMBC EMEA to provide sufficient detail to support Target State Design and then lead the work to design the Target State Business Architecture.
  • The Business Design team will support more detailed work for Transformation projects and programmes on an ongoing basis to ensure that their design solutions align with the Target State Business Architecture and Roadmap.
  • The Business Design Analyst is a member of the Business Design team that works with Service Owners to align their Assets to the overall Target State Business Architecture and Business Design standards.

 

Section 4 – Facts / Scale

  • The Business Design team is based in London and supports Business Services across all SMBC EMEA entities.
  • SMBC Group in EMEA provides a full suite of Banking and Securities Services to our clients to support their growth, with close coordination with other regional entities.
  • Successful definition, implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Service Assets is key to improving the services we provide to our customers / other entities / internal consumers, significantly improving the control environment and reducing operational costs.

 

Section 5 – Accountabilities & Responsibilities

The Business Service Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining Service Assets and their mapping to Data, People, Technology & Third Parties
  • Developing and maintaining Metrics (KPIs, KRIs, Control Indicators) that illustrate a Service’s performance, risk & controls, resilience, mitigation, and change.
  • Identifying and aligning SLAs and Controls to process, and support of functions for assurance and improvement.
  • Producing and maintaining Service Dashboards that display Metrics, SLAs, and Controls.
  • Working with the Service Owner to develop the Service Strategy (Goals, Objectives Outcomes, and Design Principles)
  • Working with the Service Owner and key Stakeholders to develop Business Cases for change.
  • Leading Service Working Groups that ensure effective engagement with Service Owners & Stakeholders.
  • Establishing a Service Change Demand board and collaborating with key Stakeholders to prioritize Change Requests.
  • Supporting the Service Owner to identify gaps or vulnerabilities in resilience and prioritising their progression through design and implementation.
  • Deliverables that implement SMBC Business Strategy and align with the Target State Business Architecture
  • Engaging with the Service Owner, key Stakeholders, Business Design and Change Management to define the future-state, develop solutions to address requirements and support successful adoption into Business-As-Usual.
  • Supporting the Service Owner to mature operation, governance and improvement of the service.

 

Section 6 – Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Business Analysis Experience

  • Strong Business Analyst background in Financial Services with the ability to employ a range of techniques and practices to ensure accurate and effective business engagement and requirements capture.
  • Broad experience supporting analysis of Technology, Data, Process, and other core dependencies.
  • Ability to apply a range of elicitation techniques aligned to the standards defined to understand the business process and related dependencies.
  • Experience with both Agile and Non-Agile approaches.
  • Familiarity with graphic modelling approaches and tools.

 

Industry Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of business services from an Operational, Business Analysis or Change perspective, covering all key products and classes.
  • Experience of working with or within Service Management, Business Architecture or Transformation functions beneficial.

 

Leadership

  • Ability to build & develop trust with sponsors, stakeholders, and peers.
  • Ability to challenge stakeholders in the right way to clarify fact from perception.
  • Experience of challenging and being challenged to shape the best outcomes.

 

  • Communication – Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor the delivery and content to the audience.
  • Strategic Thinking – Evidence of the ability to balance strategic thinking with the reality of what is proportional, appropriate, and operationally viable.
  • Problem Solving - Ability to translate complex problems into simple solutions.
