Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Compliance analyst for our Compliance Department in Brussels Branch to join our team.
The aim of the role of Compliance analyst is to support the Head of Complaince of the branch/Local Compliance Officer/Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer to ensure compliance with all relevant Compliance laws, rules and regulations which apply to SMBC Brussels Branch.
The main essential activities of the role consist of:
• promoting an enterprise-wide Compliance culture of adherence to SMBC’s stated risk tolerances and standards of ethical behaviour;
• providing advice and guidance in the understanding and application of rules and regulations;
• monitoring the Compliance performance of SMBC ’s regulated activities.
Requirements of the candidate are:
- advising businesses on how to comply with laws, rules and regulations
- investigating potential or actual breaches of relevant laws, rules and regulation
- Good knowledge of, financial Services laws and regulations, financial markets and banking activities,prudential risks and financial conduct areas
Business Area
The Compliance analyst is able to:
• Provide independent compliance advice and instructions to Front Office and Control & Support departments
• Act as subject matter expert and primary contact person for the assigned compliance matters
• Assess the impact of new regulation on existing Compliance processes and provide subject matter expertise to regulatory change projects
• Investigate potential or actual breaches of relevant laws, rules and regulations and assist in their remediation
• To assist in the writing of applicable policies and procedures
• Participate in the completion and review of risk assessments
• Participate in the completion of the compliance action plan
• Collate Management Information and draft reports in preparation for internal committees
Position Description
This role reports to the Head of Compliance of the branch/ Local Compliance Officer/Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer and is required to manage stakeholders in the Front Office and in Control functions. Issues identified in this role are reported to the Head of Compliance in the branch, management of the branch, and various oversight committees including but not limited to Local Management Committee, Risk Management Committee and Inter-Office Cmpliance Committee.
