Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Project Finance Assistant - Vice President (m/w/d) for our Business Promotion Department to join our team in Amsterdam!

In this role you will be responsible for:
- Supporting origination, structuring, and execution of project and acquisition finance transactions.
- Preparing credit applications and coordinating internal processes for transaction closing.
- Developing sector expertise in energy transition and digital infrastructure.
For you to succeed in the role, you’ll need to have:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with financial modelling experience.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- A degree in finance, business, or engineering and early experience in the financial sector.
Business Area
The team is responsible for originating and executing project finance and acquisition finance transactions across the infrastructure sector. Core focus areas include:
- Digital Infrastructure: fiber networks, mobile tower assets, and data centers
- Energy: power, renewable energy projects, and emerging energy technologies
- Clean Mobility, Transport & Social Infrastructure
These sectors play a critical role in driving the energy transition and digital transformation across the Benelux and Nordics region. The position supports the bank’s strategic ambition to expand its presence in these future‑oriented industries, while building and maintaining long‑term client relationships.
Position Description
About this role:
This role exists to support the origination and execution of project finance transactions, enabling SMBC to grow its presence in Infrastructure and Energy sectors in Benelux and Nordics. It impacts the department by ensuring smooth deal execution and maintaining strong client relationships. Stakeholders include internal teams (Credit, Legal, Syndications, Operations) and external clients.
Our role will enable you to:
- Prepare commercial pitches and financing offers.
- Review and analyse financial models, due diligence, and legal documentation.
- Assist in negotiating terms and coordinating transaction closing processes.
What will you bring to the role?

Essential:
- Undergraduate degree in finance, business, or engineering.
- Knowledge of project finance theory and practice.
- Experience in financial analysis and modelling.

Desirable:
- Sector experience in energy transition or digital infrastructure.
- Additional language skills (Dutch, Norwegian, or Swedish).
